Alumni are a valuable asset.
At the meeting with representatives of alumni from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, the Rector shared the highlights of the University's impressive achievements in the past academic year.
The university currently boasts a team of leading scientists nationwide, with 108 professors/associate professors, accounting for 29.5% of the teaching staff; and 249 PhD holders out of 366 teaching staff, accounting for 68%.
Each year, the university's staff publishes over 600 scientific articles, and this year in particular, there have been more than 80 international publications, including 21 articles in ISI and Scopus-listed journals.
International cooperation has also seen significant development with the effective implementation of large-scale international projects and increased opportunities for students and faculty to conduct research, study, and intern abroad. Conversely, many international universities have sent students to participate in summer, spring, and fall courses at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. This is a trend of international exchange and integration that the University is promoting.

Professor Pham Quang Minh shared the achievements of the university in the past academic year with the alumni.
In terms of education, the university has many new developments, such as the first-ever enrollment in Southeast Asian Studies in 2018, the first cohort of students in the International Development Studies major, and the establishment of an independent Japanese Studies program with enrollment starting in 2019. Three social science-related majors will begin enrollment soon: Journalism, Management Science, and Information Management. The specialized high school for social sciences and humanities, currently under construction, will train talented students, meet societal needs, and provide a high-quality pool of university graduates.

Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association)
The Rector also pointed out the challenges that the School and other universities are facing. These include challenges related to management capacity when transitioning to university autonomy; challenges related to competition, university rankings, and internationalization trends; and the impact of the 4.0 technological revolution, which is constantly changing teaching and learning methods and demanding new adaptations.
In this context, the University's alumni – many of whom are successful and pioneers in various social fields – are a valuable asset to the University. They embody the core values of the University and serve as brand ambassadors for the quality of its education to society. The University hopes for even greater connection and cooperation with generations of alumni to jointly contribute to the development of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Spreading the "essence" of Humanism
One of the leading scientists in the field of History - Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association) shared: many generations of students have been fortunate to be trained under the roof of Hanoi University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities - where generations of excellent teachers have been. The "integrative" and "interdisciplinary" nature is the unique and unmistakable characteristic of the school's training style, passed down through many stages of development.
Therefore, the university's students are capable of working in diverse and flexible positions thanks to that comprehensive knowledge base. Our university has many successful and distinguished alumni. "Alumni are always committed to and want to contribute to the university; the issue is that we need to think about how to elevate the university's standing through connections and relationships with our alumni," suggested Professor Nguyen Quang Ngoc.

Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen The Ky (Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Director General of the Voice of Vietnam Radio, former student of the Class of 22 Linguistics)
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen The Ky (Member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Director General of the Voice of Vietnam, former student of the 22nd cohort of Linguistics) stated that for many years, VOV has always been willing to accept students from the University for internships and practical training. And although the alumni each hold different positions and work in different fields, their affection and responsibility towards the University remain the same and are always abundant. They can all join hands to build scholarship funds for poor but academically excellent students, as a gesture of the older generation's generosity towards the next generation of students.

Ms. Nhữ Thị Ngần (General Director of Hanoi Tourism Company, former student of K48 Tourism Studies)
Ms. Nhữ Thị Ngần (General Director of Hanoi Tourism Company, a former student of Tourism Studies, Class of 48) believes that the "humanistic spirit" from her university has guided her in building a distinctive corporate culture. This is characterized by deep emotional bonds between company members, and even between the families of company members, creating a "soft" strength for the business. She also suggested increasing activities such as meetings, seminars, networking, and information exchange within the alumni community to develop effective programs that contribute to the university's development.

Professor Pham Quang Minh signed a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and YGO Vietnam JSC.
The final part of the meeting was the signing of a memorandum of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and YGO Services Joint Stock Company, headed by Ms. Nguyen Thi Ha Trang - a former student of the K56 Management Science program.
