Emphasize self-learning methods for high effectiveness. With the support, encouragement, and guidance of her family, the final-year female student has more motivation to study and train to pursue her passion. Hue always prepares and researches thoroughly, especially when it comes to choosing a major.
Nguyen Thi Hue (21 years old, from Thai Nguyen province) is a fourth-year student majoring in Tourism and Travel Service Management at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi.
Sharing her reasons for applying to the Tourism & Travel Service Management program, she recalled: “When researching universities to realize my dream, I only searched once, and to this day, I always feel that this choice was the right one. In fact, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH) – a university with a long history, a faculty of leading professors and doctors with high professional qualifications, and reasonable tuition fees – was a great choice. However, the deciding factor in my application was that the Tourism Studies department at USSH is a leading tourism training unit in Vietnam. Everything I cared about at that time was met, which is why I put Tourism Studies – Humanities on two out of four application options.”
Hue received a Certificate of Student Exchange Program awarded by the Principal of the School of Tourism, Rikkyo University, Japan.
Over nearly four years of study, Hue has acquired general (macroeconomic) knowledge, specialized knowledge, office skills, soft skills, and personal development skills. In addition, this student from the tea-growing region has also learned through opportunities to interact and engage in various activities. Last summer, Hue had the honor of participating in the 2023 Vietnam-Japan Summer Student Exchange Program. This is a memorable milestone in her four years of university.
Hue received the title of "Outstanding Young Person" at the grassroots level for the 2022-2023 school year.
Hue said that when she received this opportunity, she was worried because she didn't know much about Japan: she didn't know the culture, communication, or language, etc. Thanks to the dedication and enthusiasm of the instructors and the spirit of solidarity and mutual support, Hue and the group of students had a wonderful living and studying experience in the Land of the Rising Sun.
"Through this trip, even though it was short, I feel like I've upgraded my thinking, adaptability, and behavior... Especially, I've connected with foreign friends with whom I still keep in touch to this day!" – Hue emphasized.

Female Youth Union and Association officials have made many contributions.Besides her studies, Hue always actively participates in Youth Union and Student Association activities and student movements organized inside and outside the university, such as: the Welcome Day for New Students QH-2022 and QH-2023; the "My Class is Number 1" series of activities; the Reborn Art Gala; the FTS SHOW program; the "VNU's Got Talent 2023" competition; the "SOL Show II: Under the Stage Lights" art program...
Hue and her fellow students received the "Outstanding Young Person" award at the grassroots level.
Having grown up through youth union and association activities, Hue shared: “In each program, whether as a team leader or a member, I learned a lot from my colleagues. From there, I realized my shortcomings and gradually corrected them, learned how to connect with people and work logically and effectively. In particular, I learned how to build event organization processes through practical experience and self-learning ability – an essential and excellent skill.”
Through her hard work, this female student has achieved many outstanding accomplishments, including: the title of "Outstanding Student" at the National University of Hanoi for three consecutive years; commendations from the Executive Committee of the Student Union of the University, and commendations from the Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities;... Like many other students, Hue takes advantage of her free time for part-time jobs. Currently, she prioritizes jobs related to tourism and services such as: assisting with tours, being a tour guide, participating in Hanoi motorbike tours, and running a tour business to gradually familiarize herself with future work. All of these jobs, in addition to providing income, help her develop soft skills, broaden her professional knowledge, improve her thinking, and enhance her personal image. The difficulties and setbacks she has encountered in her work have helped Hue learn many valuable lessons.
As a young person in this new era of integration, Hue wishes to share this message with fellow students: “Study hard, constantly improve yourself to become the best version of yourself. When each individual becomes well-rounded, it will promote the development of society, and conversely, don't let yourself fall behind the progress of modern society. It's better to be sad about what you've accomplished than to regret what you haven't. Therefore, keep giving good values, and those values will return to you, sooner or later!”
