The University of Social Sciences and Humanities signed a cooperation agreement with Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences

On October 16, 2024, Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH)) attended the working session with Professor, Dr. Babaev Kirill (Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences).
Associate Professor, Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong warmly welcomed the delegation of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences to visit and work with the VNU-USSH.
The year 2024 marks the 30th anniversary of both sides signing the Treaty on the basic principles of friendly relations between Vietnam and the Russian Federation (1994-2024). Russia and Vietnam have bilateral cooperation in various fields, in which education and training are priority areas of cooperation. Currently, between Vietnamese and Russian universities there are more than 100 cooperation agreements. The two countries' higher education institutions have implemented many cooperative research activities, academic exchanges, and coordinated organization of conferences, seminars, and student and lecturer exchanges. The industries with a lot of cooperation are all strong industries of the Russian Federation that Vietnam is interested in.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as a leading unit in training and research in the field of Social Sciences and Humanities, has signed many bilateral cooperation documents with many leading universities in Russia: The Higher University of Economics, University of Friendship of Peoples of Russia.

We hope to expand cooperation with research institutes and universities in the Russian in human resource training, scientific research, innovation, serving the socio-economic and cultural.
In recent years, the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia coordinated effectively with the Faculty of Political Science, VNU-USSH in many academic activities. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong hope that the relationship between the Institute and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will be more open in the furture.
Professor, Dr.Babaev Kirill, Director of the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, Russian Academy of Sciences thanked for the warm and sincere welcome of VNU-USSH. The Russian Academy of Sciences always considers the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU as a reliable partner to implement training and research activities in Vietnam. In recent years, the University's researchers have effectively participated in scientific conferences and international publications in prestigious Russian journals with many works of high scientific value.

Professor, Dr. Mazyrin Vladimir, Director of the Center for Vietnam and ASEAN Studies, added: "Our journal is rated as one of the most prestigious journals in Russia and is listed on the Web of Science. Therefore, we welcome and welcome scientists from VNU-USSH to submit research papers to our journal. We propose to organize the publication of a special issue of the Journal of Vietnamese Studies in October 2025, celebrating an important event celebrating the 80th anniversary of the VNU-USSH tradition".
At the meeting, the two sides agreed on  signing signed Memorandum of Understanding (MOU), including:
- Exchange of scholars and students.
- Cooperation in organizing scientific ceminas in Russia and Vietnam
- Cooperation in the publication of scientific products.
- Exchange of information and ducuments in the fields of mutual interest.
- Other scientific activities such as delivering lectures, scientific presentations, etc.
Specifically, in 2025, VNU-USSH will coordinate with the Institute of China and Contemporary Asia, the Russian Academy of Sciences to organize the 2025 International Scientific Conference with topic: Vietnam-Russia Relations through the Lens of Russia's "Pivot to the East" Policy. After the conference, the scientific articles will be edited and published at prestigious publishers in Russian.
