OneUSSH: Exchange and share endogenous databases between two universities of Social Sciences and Humanities

This is the content of the discussion at the working session between representatives of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU and representatives of the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM , September 18, 2024.
At the meeting, Assoc.Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU emphasized that promoting the tradition of sincere and loyal cooperation between the two Universities of Social Sciences and Humanities under the National University at the two ends of the country, the leaders of the two universities have had policies to promote cooperation and exploit common resources in the development process of the two units. With the policy of digital transformation in university administration, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU wishes to cooperate with units in developing databases (DBs) to best serve training support activities, scientific research, especially cooperation with the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.
Assoc.Prof.Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh - Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU, emphasized that the implementation of the project of sharing endogenous databases will bring many benefits to learners and teachers of the two units.
MSc. Bui Thu Hang - Director of the Library of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM shared information about the internal information resources of VNU-HCM and the possibility of cooperation between the two schools.
At the meeting, the leaders of the two units agreed that the two leading universities in the country in social sciences and humanities will carry out coordinated activities to provide library information services; connect and share directory information of endogenous information resources on Koha software (directory) and endogenous full-text document sources on Dspace software to meet the needs of learners, lecturers and researchers of the two schools. This activity contributes to saving costs of purchasing and maintaining library management software, especially effectively using resources between the two schools in supporting staff, lecturers and students in studying, teaching and scientific research.
Specifically, with the sharing of endogenous electronic documents, students, postgraduates, staff and lecturers of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi are allowed to use the endogenous electronic database of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM.
Assoc. Prof. Dr. Lai Quoc Khanh assigned the Center for Communication and Information Technology, the General Administration Department, and the Faculty of Information and Library to coordinate and implement the above cooperation activities as soon as possible and with the highest efficiency, bringing convenience to teachers and students of the school. It is expected that in phase 1 from November 2024 to May 2025, the project will be piloted with 03 faculties of VNU-USSH. In the next phase (from May 2025 onwards), it will be implemented for the next faculties/institutes/departments in the whole school.
Leaders of relevant units have made contributions to cooperation and sharing of databases with high efficiency.
Previously, at the 2023 Annual Meeting between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU-HCM, held on May 26, 2023, key leaders of the two units shared experiences in building high-quality human resources, training programs and digital transformation in university administration, along with many cooperation activities in training and research between the two leading universities in social sciences and humanities in the North and South.
