Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Kim (USSH's Vice Rector) presents the decision of establishing the School of Journalism and Communication
The School of Journalism and Communication (SJC) was formed by combining Faculty of Journalism and Communication and Center for Media Practice and is the first model at USSH that developed from faculty into School based on the orientation of self-governance. Assoc. Prof. Dr Dang Thi Thu Huong was appointed its Dean.

On behalf of the Board of Leaders, Prof. Dr Nguyen Van Kim (USSH's Vice Rector) highly appreciated the constant innovation and creativity of the School's lecturers, staff and officers. He also highlighted the fact that in light of the challenges and opportunities posed by the digital age and mass media, the School has to do its best to realize its intensive objectives to respond to the changes in social life, contributing to national development.

Speaking at the ceremony, Assoc. Prof. Dr Dang Thi Thu Huong (Dean of the School of Journalism and Communication) emphasized: the School's strategy is to further improve its training methods, extend and diversify its products in order to become a unit of regional and international standards.
Honoring the previous leaders
"Apart from properly combining theoretical and practical aspects, the curriculla will focus more on the new dimensions of communication technologies and the public side of modern communications to provide future journalists and media practitioners with adequate professional ethics and capability, foreign language proficiency, multi-media skills, press and media managment skills, so they can meet the increasing demands of press and media agencies and employers", the Dean shared.
Honoring the elderly teachers
The School currently has 4 departments: Journalism, Multimedia Communication, PR-Advertisement, and Journalism and Media Management. Apart from 2 bachelor's programs in Journalism and Public relations, the School offers 3 master's programs in Research-based Journalism, Applied Journalism, and Media Management (in collaboration with Stirling University, UK) and 01 doctorate program in Journalism.
Granting awards for the most distinguished new students
In the next year, the School will offer an advanced bachelor's program in Journalism, and 02 master's programs in Journalism Management and Media Management, and the master's program in Journalism and Communication Economics (in collaboration with University of Economics, VNU Hanoi).
Granting awards for students with excellent academic performance
Prof. Ha Minh Duc (former Dean of Faculty of Journalism, Hanoi General University) sent his remarks to the students: "I hope you will be confident yet not arrogant, be automomous - not dependent, hold high self-esteem and ethical qualities, and be aware of yourself and in control of your perceptions".
Granting awards for students that overcame difficulties and achieved high scores
Also at the ceremony, the University's units, businesses, and sponsors granted many valuable scholarships to students that have scored excellent achievements and made active contributions to the School.
