Interested candidates visit the consulting corner of USSH
At the consulting festival, representatives of Vietnam's Ministry of Education and Training, Directorate of Vocational Education and Training (Ministry of Labor-Invalids-Social Affairs) and large domestic universities provided high school students with information of the 2019 National High School Examination for the entrance to universities and colleges.
The Admission Consulting and Career Orientation had three parts: General consulting that provided latest information about the 2019 National High School Examination; Consulting for each professional major; Direct admissions consulting, in which the high school students posed questions to the consultants of their favorite university.
As part of the VNU's admission consulting section, University of Social Sciences and Humanities' corner attracted quite a lot of students queuing for their turn. Many of the University's "hot" majors such as Journalism, Public Relations, Oriental Studies, Japanese Studies, Southeast Asian Studies, Tourism and Travel Management, Hotel Management, Psychology, and Science Management attracted special interest from the students. They asked a range of issues from curriculla, study facilities to job opportunities.
USSH's Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan directly advise high school students interested in social sciences and humanities
Sharing with media and press agencies in the two provinces, Assoc.Prof.Dr Hoang Anh Tuan said in 2019, USSH's admission rate increases for a little, primarily to meet the demands posed the new majors and particularly wanted majors. The University has opened some applied majors such as Information Management, Journalism and Management Science. Especially this year, USSH founds the new major of Japanese Studies in the form of area studies, which previously was a minor under the major Oriental Studies. Similar to Southeast Asian Studies that began admitting students in 2018, Japanese Studies is expected to attract a lot of students this year with a positive prospect for job opportunities.
Regarding how the candidates chose their career, Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan said while before students often chose majors based on hindsight or recommendations from their close ones, now they are increasingly realistic and pay more attention to how the majors directly help with their future career. In particular, students born in 2001 will become more profoundly aware of career prospects that they will go with for a life. They are more strong-willed and responsible with their own life and choices.
The USSH's consultants
"I was impressed with the questions posed by the students concerning study falicities and the realities at domestic and foreign enterprises and companies or how much internships will contribute to their future career", said Tuan, "This proves they are rather perceptive towards the innovations in the current higher education training system".
Currently at USSH, internships and field trips for students are especially emphasized as relations between USSH and businesses become more and more strengthened. Every year, hundreds of students participate in overseas international events or do internships at foreign universities and organizations. For their part, hundreds of international lecturers and students come to the University to teach, study or do internships, creating a highly international environment.
Students at USSH are trained with the spirit: "Stable knowledge - Solid skills - Intensive international integration". The high flexibility and adaptability towards diverse types of jobs in the 4.0 digital age and a constanly changing world is also the University's strong point. Apart from receiving updated materials on admission processes in the year 2019, the students were given advice, answers and useful information of the majors, admission methods and job opportunities upon graduation.
This had been the second year when USSH held the admission consulting program in Nghe An and Thanh Hoa. According to this year's plan for admission consulting and promotion, in March, 2019 the Universty will participate in the Admissions Consulting and Career Orientation Festival held by Tuoi tre Newspaper in Hai Phong (March 10th) and Hanoi (March 17th) and also hold the program "Student Ambassador" to bring information to students of over 100 high schools in Vietnam's northern provinces.
