VNU-USSH strengthens cooperation with Thai partners in the field of Vietnamese language teaching, research on Vietnamese language and culture

From August 27 to 31, 2024, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU-USSH) led a delegation of the University to visit and work with the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Thailand, Mahidol University, Thammasat University, Institute of East Asian Studies and Faculty of Liberal Arts (under Thammasat University), Institute of Language and Culture Studies (under Mahidol University), Vietnamese Association in Bangkok and General Association of Vietnamese in Thailand (headquartered in Mukdahan province, Thailand).
Also participating in the working trip to Thailand, on behalf of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, were Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Binh, Director of the Center for Vietnamese Language and Culture; Dr. Pham Hoang Hung, Head of the Department of Cooperation and Development; Dr. Dao Thi Lan Anh, lecturer specializing in Thailand, Department of Southeast Asia, Faculty of Oriental Studies.
The activities during the working trip of the University received enthusiastic support from the Embassy of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Thailand. Mr. Pham Viet Hung, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam in the Kingdom of Thailand, expressed his confidence and desire to further promote cooperation activities between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and a number of universities and research institutes in Thailand in the coming time.  
During the meetings and working sessions with partners, the two sides affirmed the results of the cooperative relationship and deep understanding over the past nearly 20 years, and affirmed their desire and commitment to promote extensive cooperation in many activities: such as organizing Vietnam Studies Conferences, opening Vietnamese Teaching Methods classes for foreigners, implementing Vietnamese proficiency assessment for foreigners, international publishing cooperation, consulting and providing experts on preserving and promoting ethnic languages ​​and cultures, researching the languages ​​and cultures of Thai people of Vietnamese origin, providing experts for partner programs on Vietnam Studies, Ethnic Languages ​​and Cultures, Linguistics, Southeast Asian Studies, East Asian Studies and Asian Studies...
In particular, the partners have enthusiastically supported the program of sending Vietnamese students to intern, exchange and work at universities in Thailand and sending students, experts, and researchers to intern, practice, conduct fieldwork, and research at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In addition, partners (especially the General Association of Vietnamese in Thailand) hope that the School will implement a Vietnamese language teaching program for overseas Vietnamese in Thailand to preserve and promote national culture.
