VNU IN TOP 500 UNIVERSITIES IN ASIA IN 2020

The Times Higher Education (THE) weekly bulletin has just released the ranking of the best universities in Asia in 2020. Vietnam has 3 representatives, namely Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), Vietnam National University, Ho Chi Minh City (VNUHCM) and Hanoi University of Science and Technology (HUST).

USSH in close collaboration with Facebook in "Facebook for Vietnam" 2020

That was the affirmation of Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) at the lauching ceremony of the "Facebook for Vietnam" campaign on May, 24th. This campaign is a collaborative project of Facebook and the US Mission to Vietnam and partners on the ocassion of the 25th anniversary of Vietnam-US diplomatic relations.

Meeting with the Head of UNESCO Hanoi Office

On May 11th, 2020, Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Minh (Rector of University of Social Sciences and Humanities) and representatives of the Vietnam Program for Internet & Society and Office for Cooperation and Development had a work meeting with the Head of UNESCO Hanoi Office, Mr. Michael Croft.

Announcement of sponsoring Contract with UPM Co., Ltd

On May 7th, 2020, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and Mrs. Tran Thi Ngoc Hoa (Director of UPM Co., Ltd) announced the signing of the sponsoring Contract on the E-learning training system at the University. Also participating at the ceremony was Mr. Nguyen Phan Huy Khoi - President of Bao Ninh Investment Company, the parent company of UPM.

On May 8th, 2020, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) and representatives of USSH's Office for Cooperation and Development had a meeting with Mr. Chu Ming (Director of the Education Division of Taipei Economic and Cultural Office, Vietnam).

Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh sends appreciation letter to Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam

On March 25th, 2020, Prof.Dr Pham Quang Minh (USSH's Rector) welcomed Mrs. Chuman Ai (Second Secretary of the Embassy of Japan in Vietnam). He asked Mrs. Chuman Ai to send an appreciation letter and warm regards from the University to Mr. Kunio Umeda - Ambassador of Japan to Vietnam as he is concluding his term and returning to Japan.

E-learning workshop for USSH's lecturers

A workshop on E-learning platform fully sponsored by UPM Vietnam Co., Ltd (part of Bao Ninh corporation) for teaching staff of USSH took place on February 27-28. Over 80 lecturers of all units were instructed by UPM's technicians on creating accounts and establishing teaching syllabuses online, which will be an ingredient in their teaching activities in the next semester.

VNU and two other Vietnamese universities feature in the latest world university rankings

In February 2020, THE - Times Higher Education, published the Emerging Economies University Rankings 2020, in which, Vietnam has 3 ranked higher education institutions, out of 533 universities from 47 countries included in the ranking.

FLIS' lecturers take part in E-learning course

On February 20th, 2020, the lecturers of USSH's Faculty of Library - Information Science took part in the E-learning course sponsored by UPM Education Development Joint Stock Company.

Photo exhibition on Vietnam in Spain held by VNU and Valladolid University

Implementing the cooperation agreements between the two universities, VNU collaborated with Valladolid University (Spain) to organize a photo exhibition on "Vietnam: The land, people and culture" in the city of Palencia, one of the long-standing centres of culture and history in Spain.

Vietnam National University – Hanoi up 216 steps in rankings

Hanoi (VNA) – The Vietnam National University – Hanoi (VNU) remains the top in Vietnam with the 1090th place globally, up 216 steps from the ranking announced in August 2018.

Meeting with the History NGO Forum for Peace in East Asia (South Korea)

On January 8th, 2020, Prof.Dr Nguyen Van Kim (USSH's Vice Rector) and representatives of Faculty of History, Office for Research Affairs, and Office for Cooperation and Development had a work meeting with the delegation of the History NGO Forum for Peace in East Asia (South Korea) led by Prof. Jang-Hie Lee (President). Also participating in the meeting were Prof. Tran Duc Cuong (President of the Vietnamese Association of Historical Science) and Prof. Nghiem Dinh Vi (President of the Vietnamese Association of History Education).

On December 31st, USSH's Vice Rector and representatives of its Faculty of Linguistics, Office for Cooperation and Development and Office for Academic Affairs welcomed and worked with the delegation of Guangxi College of Foreign Studies (Guangxi University of Nationalities, China) led by Prof.Dr Zeng Cheng Chuo (Vice President).

Workshop on improving the responsibility of the Tourism sector for wildlife conservation in HCM City

On December 20th-21st, 2019, USSH, VNU Hanoi's Tourism and Scientific Services Company (TASS) started the training course on "Knowledge and responsibility of the tourism sector for wildlife conservation" for tourism personnel in Ho Chi Minh City.

USSH and Facebook cooperate to integrate the module Digital thinking

From December 16th-19th, 2019, the staff delegation of USSH, VNU Hanoi led by its Rector Pham Quang Minh visited and attended a workshop at Facebook Singapore - the headquarters of Facebook Asia-Pacific. The workshop focused on the potential cooperation in developing the first module/subject in Digital thinking to be taught at universities in Vietnam.

USSH to admit students of NCCU (Taiwan) in 2020

Under the framework of the Taiwan - ASEAN Higher education Forum held in Taipei on December 16th, 2019, USSH's Vice Rector had a discussion with the President of National Chengchi University (NCCU) on the specific cooperative programs starting in 2020.

International conference on sustainable tourism development

On December 3rd, 2019, Faculty of Tourism, USSH, VNU Hanoi held the international Conference "Sustainable tourism development: Lessons learned for Southeast Asian countries". It is sponsored by the TOURIST and the European Commission through the Erasmus+ Program.
