11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- In addition to establishing a theoretical framework on words, word meanings, lexical-semantic fields, and the phenomenon of field shifting, the thesis also defines the concepts of "lyrics" and "revolutionary songs" to accurately identify and select the materials to be surveyed. In particular, the thesis presents and explains its own perspective on "symbolic meaning" as a basis for research.
- The thesis surveyed 175 revolutionary songs from the period 1945-1975, collecting 2,583 words with a total of 13,897 uses, classifying them into 8 lexical-semantic fields; identifying the hierarchical nature, overlapping characteristics, distribution features, and semantic functions of words within each field.
- The thesis has statistically identified 826 words with lexical-semantic shifts, with a total frequency of 2,650 occurrences; it specifically identifies metaphor and metonymy as two typical methods of semantic shift that have led to these shifts in word lexical-semantic fields; and it analyzes and explains the ability of words to express meaning in their newly transferred lexical-semantic fields.
- The thesis analyzed and specifically described the symbolic meanings of four typical words with high frequency of appearance as literary aesthetic signals - namely: heart (heart/mind), road, spring, fire; it analyzed the influencing factors, the mechanisms of symbolic meaning formation, and the unique and distinctive features of the vocabulary used in revolutionary songs during the 1945-1975 period.
- The thesis has identified the typical characteristics of vocabulary and semantics, the content reflected, and the central character imagery in Vietnamese revolutionary songs from 1945 to 1975. In particular, the thesis has pointed out the factors influencing and shaping the cognitive characteristics, the way life is expressed, and especially the artistic techniques used to portray the image of the Vietnamese people in revolutionary songs from 1945 to 1975.
