11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
- From a multi-dimensional approach to the picture of journalism and journalistic activities in the years before the reforms, the dissertation clarifies the appearance of Vietnamese journalism and the Party's journalistic work in the pre-reform period (1986), points out the requirements placed on the Party's leadership when entering the reform process, thereby contributing to clarifying the theoretical and practical basis for the necessity of reforming the Party's leadership over journalistic work when the country entered the reform process.
- To clarify the importance of journalistic work and the Party's leadership over journalistic work from the perspective of fundamental viewpoints, policies, and measures reflected in the orientation of political ideology and content, through the direction and organization of the implementation of building a team of cadres, building a journalistic system, building a legal system for journalism...; on that basis, to objectively and truthfully reconstruct the historical process of the Party's leadership of journalistic work from 1986 to 2006.
- Drawing from various sources, the dissertation has contributed to systematizing the Party's views and policies on journalistic work through two periods with specific political tasks, based on three fundamental contents demonstrating the comprehensive and direct leadership of the Party over journalistic work from 1986 to 2006.
- Based on the historical practice of the Party's leadership over journalistic work, the thesis objectively identifies the achievements and limitations in the process of the Party's leadership of journalistic work, thereby explaining the causes of the strengths, weaknesses, and limitations, and drawing conclusions about the experiences of the Party's leadership of journalistic work from 1986 to 2006.
- This dissertation provides scientifically grounded arguments affirming that the Party's leadership is a crucial factor in ensuring that the press fulfills its responsibilities with its defined principles and objectives, and also guarantees the effectiveness of the press for society and its own internal development, especially in the context of globalization, multilateralism, and diversification of international relations today.
12. Practical applications:
- The content of this dissertation contributes to enriching and enlivening the picture of the Party's history in the first two decades of the reform process, not only leading the development of the economy, politics, culture, national security and defense... but also demonstrating the Party's leadership in a multifaceted and challenging way, directly related to many fields and no less important to the achievements of the reform process in Vietnam.
- Objective assessments and observations on the successes, limitations, shortcomings, and lessons learned from the Party's leadership in journalistic work will contribute an important historical basis for formulating policies and directing the implementation of the Party's journalistic work in the future.
- The results of this dissertation serve as a valuable reference for agencies, units, individuals, and research and teaching projects on the history of journalism and the Party's journalistic work in particular, and the Party's ideological and theoretical work in general.
13. Future research directions:
- To delve deeper into the innovative methods of the Party's leadership over the press through practical surveys of each specific type of media (television, print, radio, and online) during the reform process, focusing on important historical milestones for each type. This will provide a comprehensive scientific basis for a more complete and profound understanding of the Party's leadership over the press in the new historical context.
- Continue to study and summarize both the theory and practice of the Party's leadership over press work during the 10th Party Congress term (from 2006 to 2011), in order to grasp the continuous development of the press system, and at the same time objectively assess the achievements and shortcomings that press work needs to summarize.

- Based on the multidimensional approach to the context of journalism and journal activities before the era of renovation (1986), the Thesis clearly points out the appearance of Vietnamese journalism and journal activities of Vietnamese Communist Party in this time period. It also mentions the requirements to the leadership of the Communist Party during the renovation progress, and then contributes to clarifying the theoretical and practical basis of the necessity of the Communist Party's guidance to journal activities.
- The Thesis shows the importance of the Communist Party's guidance to journal activities through opinions, policies, measures to direct the political opinions, guidance and organizing the staff, building journal system and developing the concerning legal system. This is the basis for reconstructing the historical process of the guidance to journal activities from 1986 to 2006.
- According to many different document sources, the Thesis contributes to systematizing the opinions and policies of Communist Party to journal activities in two stages, with specific political missions, with three fundamental contents expressing the comprehensive and direct leadership of Communist Party to journal activities from 1986 to 2006.
