Based on the collection, systematization, and supplementation of new materials, and the scientific processing of source materials, the dissertation makes the following contributions:

- Utilizing a fairly rich, diverse, and reliable body of documentation on the Party's policies, guidelines, and implementation process in organizing, building, and protecting the rear area of ​​North Vietnam from 1965 to 1972.

- The reference materials and appendices of this thesis may contribute to the study of some issues related to or concerning the building and development of the strength and role of the North Vietnamese rear area during the period 1965-1972.

- It provides a relatively complete and objective description and reconstruction of the historical picture of the Party's leadership in building, protecting, and developing the strength of the North Vietnamese rear area from 1965 to 1972.

- Contributing to clarifying the planning circumstances, successes, and limitations of the policies, guidelines, solutions, and measures of the Vietnam Labor Party in the process of building, protecting, and developing the strength of the North Vietnamese rear area in support of the South Vietnamese front line and the Indochina battlefield.

- Initially, this study provides scientifically-based assessments and observations on the achievements and limitations in the process of the Party's leadership in building and developing the strength of the Northern rear area; from which, it draws some key lessons to serve the current cause of building and defending the socialist Fatherland.

12.Practical applications:This dissertation can be used as research material and for teaching the subject of the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the Revolutionary Line of the Communist Party of Vietnam, and related subjects.

13.Further research directions:

Research on the two anti-invasion campaigns in North Vietnam during the war against the US (1965-1972), in general, and on the process of the Vietnam People's Liberation Army leading the people and army to victory in these two campaigns, in particular, presents many issues whose content and dimensions are difficult to convey simultaneously and fully within the framework of a single monograph. With the passage of time, historical documents are constantly being uncovered, new research perspectives are continuously being updated, and new research requirements arise from practical demands… This opens up enormous opportunities, realistic possibilities, and places demands and responsibilities on the research community, including the author of this dissertation. From this perspective, this dissertation is only the beginning of the research path. The doctoral candidate intends to pursue the following research directions and content in the future:

- Building and defending the seas and islands; countering encirclement and blockade during the resistance war against the US, for national salvation (1954-1975);

- Developing internal strengths while simultaneously leveraging external forces; at the same time, maintaining national independence, self-reliance, and sovereignty during the resistance war against the US to save the country (1954-1975);

- The relationship between peace and war; the issue of protecting borders, territorial sovereignty, and maritime boundaries within the context of current developments and dynamics in the world and region;

- Resolving the relationship between national and international relations, between construction and defense; between the government and the people… in the current development of the country.

- Resource of references, appendix of the thesis may contribute to research of some issues belonging to or related to establishment, promotion of the strength and role of the Northern rear in the period from 1965 to 1972.

- Describing, preserving sufficiently, objectively the historical picture regarding leadership of the Party in establishing, protecting and promoting the strength of the Northern rear from 1965 to 1972.

- Contributing to clarification of policy making circumstance, success, limitation of guidance, policy, solution and methods of Vietnam Labor Party in establishing, protecting and promoting the strength of the Northern rear towards the Southern frontline and the Indochinese battlefield.

13. Further research directions

Researches on the two destruction wars in the North of Vietnam during the Anti-American Resistance War and National Salvation (1965-1972) and the course when Vietnam Labor Party led the people and the armed force to win the two destruction wars in particular have some issues for which its contents and dimensions can hardly transmit simultaneously and fully within the framework of the specific thesis. Together with temporal reversal, historic documentations are always revealed, new perspectives of study updated, new requirements for study emerging from reality, etc. It opens great opportunities and actual capabilities and imposes demands and responsibilities for the research circle of which is the author of the thesis. On the viewpoint, the thesis is just a start of the research path, the postgraduate expects prospective research directions and content as follows:

- Waters and islands construction and defense; anti-blockade and anti-surrounding in the Anti-American Resistance War and National Salvation (1954-1975);

- Calling for internal power in combination with external power; simultaneous maintenance of independence, self-control, national sovereignty in the Anti-American Resistance War and National Salvation (1954-1975);

- Peace and war relations; border, territorial land and waters sea defense imposed in the movements of the world and the region in the current period;

- Solving relationships between the nation and the world, between construction and defense; between government and people, etc. in the country developing at present.
