10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
This dissertation is the first systematic research work in Vietnam on ASEAN cooperation in the field of environmental security from 1999 to 2015. Based on the exploitation of domestic and international sources and a multi-faceted approach, the dissertation poses and addresses scientifically and practically significant issues; clearly states the objectives, analyzes the cooperation process, and the practical effects of ASEAN cooperation on environmental security. From there, the dissertation points out the characteristics, achievements, and limitations of the cooperation process, and offers some suggestions to improve the effectiveness of ASEAN cooperation. In addition, the dissertation also analyzes Vietnam's participation in this field of cooperation.
In addition to the above content, this thesis attempts to systematically present and study the relationship between environmental issues and security, and the necessity of regional and international cooperation to ensure environmental security. It is hoped that this thesis will serve as a reference for the training and research of students and researchers in international relations, particularly those interested in international relations issues, especially "new" security issues—those that pose a direct threat to human life and safety. With its achieved results, this thesis will contribute new sources of information; new perspectives, approaches, and interpretations in the study of international relations, security, and cooperation in environmental security.

10. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
The thesis is the first systematic academic work in Vietnam on ASEAN cooperation in environmental security from 1999 to 2015. Based on research domestic and international data from multi-dimensional approaches, the thesis raises issues in both scientific and practice terms; it points out the goals, analyzes cooperation process of ASEAN in environmental security. The thesis points out the characteristics, achievements and limits of this process. It proposes some solutions to improve the effectiveness of ASEAN cooperation in environmental security. Besides, the thesis also examines Vietnam's participation in this cooperation process.
Together with the above mentioned contents, the theoretical thesis presents and researches the relationship between environment issues and security, the necessity of international and regional cooperation in guaranteeing environmental security. The thesis is expected to be a useful reference for students and researchers of international relations major who are particularly interested in non-traditional security and “emerging” security issues. With its findings, the thesis contributes a new approach and analysis to the research of international cooperation in environmental security.
