11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
The most significant new aspect of this thesis is its provision of a comprehensive picture of the linguistic situation in Guangxi Province in general, and the linguistic situation of the Zhuang people in specific locations within the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region in particular – a topic never before addressed or studied in depth in any previous work. Based on this picture of the linguistic situation described and analyzed in this thesis, the study identifies the linguistic attitudes of the people towards Standard Chinese, Zhuang, their mother tongue, foreign languages ​​(Vietnamese), and the languages ​​of other ethnic groups; and simultaneously proposes recommendations for developing appropriate language policies in the research area.
12. Practical applications:
Firstly, the results of the linguistic situation survey in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, contribute to the study of the linguistic situation in ethnic minority areas in China in the current context under the influence of economic, political, cultural, and social factors.
Secondly, surveying the language proficiency, usage patterns, and attitudes of residents in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China, will contribute to theoretical research on language policy in ethnic minority areas in particular, and language policy in general, in China in the current context.
13. Directions for further research:
This thesis limits its research scope to two locations in Guangxi Province, China. Future research will explore other areas of Guangxi to enrich the evidence for this thesis.

  5. New findings of the thesis
The most important new finding of the thesis is to provide a picture of the language situation in Guangxi Province in general and the language situation of the Zhuang people in some areas in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region. This has never been mentioned and studied deeply in any previous work. On the basis of the picture of the language situation described and analyzed, the thesis identifies the local residents' language attitudes towards Mandarin Chinese, Zhuang language, mother tongue, foreign language (Vietnamese), and languages ​​of other ethnic groups. Additionally, the thesis proposes some recommendations for developing an appropriate language policy in the study area.
  1. Contribution of the thesis
First, the results of the study on the language situation in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China contributes to the study on the language situation in China's ethnic minority areas in the current context under the impact of economic, political, cultural and social factors.
Second, the survey on the linguistic competence and language use as well as the language attitudes of residents in the Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, China will contribute to the theoretical study on language policies in ethnic minority areas in particular and in China in general in the current context.
  1. Further research directions
The thesis limits the scope of the study to two areas in Guangxi Province, China. In the future, we will conduct research in the Province's other areas to provide further evidence for the thesis.
