11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
Research purpose:
From a historical perspective, the thesis reconstructs the picture of the formation and transformation of old collective housing areas in Hanoi from 1954 to 2000. At the same time, the thesis aims to clarify the movement of collective housing areas in Hanoi through two segments: from 1956 to 1985 and from 1986 to 2000. From there, it analyzes some outstanding features of social lifestyle, culture, historical values as well as summarizes some experiences in urban management as well as urban heritage management.
Research mission:
- Overview of factors affecting the formation and transformation of collective housing areas in Hanoi from 1954 to 2000 such as historical context; policies of the Party and State on urban construction in Hanoi and some other factors during the period from 1954 to 2000.
- Synthesize sources of documents to reconstruct the historical picture of the formation and transformation process of collective housing areas in Hanoi in terms of planning, architecture and social aspects through two periods from 1954 to 1985 and from 1986 to 2000.
- Analyze cultural, social and historical factors associated with the formation and transformation of collective housing areas in Hanoi from 1954 to 2000.
- Summarize historical experiences in management, organization and conservation of values related to collective housing areas in Hanoi that can be applied in current urban management of Hanoi.
Research subjects:
The research object of the topic is collective housing areas located in residential subdivisions built from 1954 to before 2000 through aspects of policy, planning, history, culture and society.
Research method:
The thesis is a topic in the field of Vietnamese History, so the historical scientific research method is used as the main research method, examining and presenting the development and transformation process of the collective housing area in Hanoi through factors such as architecture, planning, cultural life... and is presented in a chronological order, providing diverse perspectives and clarifying the relationship between the research objects.
The logical method is used as a method of examining and studying events directly related to collective housing areas to point out the nature and laws of historical development. Unlike the historical method, the logical method does not delve into the entire process but only exploits core, interconnected issues. From specific issues, related issues can be reasonably deduced.
The comparative analysis method is used when there is a complete database, from numbers and tables related to housing issues, collective housing areas can scientifically evaluate the whole social picture, help make judgments and comments so that it can be clarified and analyzed.
The historical divergence method in the thesis is used to specifically divide the development stages of collective housing in Hanoi through a continuous time axis, starting from 1954 with the appearance of the first experimental model of collective housing until 2000 when the term collective housing was no longer used but instead a system of urban areas, apartment buildings were used instead with the specific appearance of Linh Dam urban area.
In addition to the methods that are mainly and closely related to historical research, this is also a highly interdisciplinary topic. The historical factor is the main factor, but it cannot be without other research fields.
Statistical method is one of the interdisciplinary methods used when collecting complete database. Synthesize data from primary documents, secondary documents or information from direct interviews or direct observations.
