- Collect and systematize primary and secondary sources of documents on political parties in Vietnam in the modern period; exploit new documents, especially leaflet documents.

- New approach: combining theories of political science in studying the history of political parties in Vietnam.

- Provide a definition of political party suitable to specific historical conditions in modern Vietnam.

- Recreate the process of formation of political parties in Vietnam in modern times.

- Clarifying the main features in the ideological movement of political parties in Vietnam from after World War I (1914-1919) to before 1930 and from 1930 to before the August Revolution in 1945 in Vietnam.

Clarifying the political nature of each political party. This is the key to decoding successes and failures; determining the position and role of each organization in the struggle for national independence and social progress in Vietnam. From there, the thesis contributes to a more complete understanding of modern Vietnamese history in terms of political ideology.
