- Firstly: The thesis has analyzed and clarified the current state of US-Russia relations in the period 2017-2020 on selected prominent issues, including: Accusations of Russia interfering in the 2016 US presidential election, the Syrian civil war, the intermediate-range nuclear forces treaty, the Nord Stream 2 gas pipeline project, cyber warfare, economic sanctions and diplomatic expulsions.
- Second: The thesis has assessed the impact of US-Russia relations in the period 2017-2020 on the US, Russia and international relations, including Vietnam. At the same time, it has provided a forecast for the prospects of this relationship until 2024.
- Third: The thesis has proposed policy suggestions in Vietnam's foreign relations with major powers, especially the US and Russia.

- Firstly: From the analysis of the current state of US-Russia relations in the period 2017-2020, the thesis has contributed theoretical bases and reliable evidence to supplement the source of reference documents on US foreign relations for the Faculty of International Studies - University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in particular as well as training institutions on International Relations, American Studies, and American Studies in Vietnam in general.
