11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
Based on the analysis of various sources, this thesis makes the following contributions:
- Contributing to the systematic and comprehensive study and understanding of mining activities by foreigners in Northern Vietnam within the regional and global context from the late 17th to the early 20th centuries;
- Contributing to the explanation of the basis, objectives, and multifaceted consequences for the Chinese and French when conducting mining in Vietnam, clarifying the impacts of mining on Vietnam, China, and France;
- Based on some observations and assessments of mining activities by foreigners in Northern Vietnam, the thesis draws some insightful historical lessons regarding the management and exploitation of mining resources, the management and use of foreign labor, and the capacity of Vietnamese people to acquire knowledge and apply science and technology.
- The research findings of this dissertation serve as supplementary material for research and teaching of global history and Vietnamese history.

- Analyzing and interpreting the consequences of management policies of Vietnamese dynasties on the mining activities of foreign powers and the impacts on Vietnamese society in different historical periods;
