Firstly: Through the subject matter, it can be seen that documentaries reflect life through real people and real events, which is the most basic characteristic of documentaries. Documentary filmmakers need to be honest and have sharp analysis and a high ability to generalize about an important issue in life.

Third: To complete the purpose and research tasks, the thesis has started from the theoretical and practical basis, which is the analysis and generalization of documentary films about Vietnam by filmmaker Joris Ivens - a famous Dutch documentary filmmaker who has influence in the world because of his progressive thoughts, with his vision beyond the times and progressive thoughts, he was present in Vietnam during the fierce period of the war to make films that shocked world public opinion. Helping the people of the world understand more about Vietnam, a Vietnam that is being invaded by imperialists.

During the war years, the availability of cinema was an unreplaceable part of the daily life of the war-torn country.The people warmly welcome every movie that came out, because those movies are the source of encouragement, helping people overcame their hardships and the danger of war. The historical setting has provided opportunities for the success of Vietnamese documentary films through various movies awarded in many Film Festivals.
2.To have the theoretical and practical basis of the topic and accomplish the purpose and research mission, the thesis was demonstrated by surveying and systematized the theoretical contents such as documentary film overview, cinema direct in documentary film, summarize the categories, methods using in documentaries, summarize the topic of war, the documentary film festival in Vietnam, documentary films about the Vietnam War by filmmakers around the globe and overview about Joris Ivens and his main works.
Through research and systematized for the research about Joris Ivens and his documentaries, the author has the following observation: By using the method cinema direct his movies, Joris Ivens forms in viewers the most emotional possible, filmmakers' film all the events in a truthful way possible, with the dedication of a creator the footages will have a natural realism value as it is in real life.
