11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
       Research objectives:This thesis focuses on clarifying the Vietnam-South Korea strategic partnership in the economic field during the period 2009-2020.
Research subjects:This thesis focuses on the study of strategic investment relations between Vietnam and South Korea in the economic field after the two countries upgraded diplomatic relations in 2009.
Research perspective:The economy has always been considered a cornerstone of bilateral relations, especially in the Vietnam-Korea Strategic Investment Relations (SER) relationship. Therefore, research aimed at forecasting the prospects of SER relations essentially involves understanding the bilateral economic relationship between the two countries. The author will study the Vietnam-Korea SER relationship, focusing on the economic sector, to provide a forecast of the future development of this relationship.
Research methodology:This dissertation studies the relationship between the two countries in the economic field, therefore it primarily uses international relations research methods. To achieve research effectiveness, the dissertation applies the following specific research methods:
- Policy analysis method: The author uses this method to analyze the content and objectives of Vietnam's foreign policy.
- Benefit-based analysis method: This method was used by the author to assess the benefits for Vietnam and South Korea in the process of economic cooperation.
- Historical and diachronic method: This method was used by the author to organize information and understand the international, regional, and domestic historical context of Vietnam and South Korea when the two countries established diplomatic relations.
- Comparative method: The author uses a comparative method to highlight similarities between Vietnam and South Korea; compares the concepts of strategic partnerships between Vietnam and South Korea and globally; the characteristics of South Korea's strategic partnership compared to some other partners; changes in trade and investment relations between Vietnam and South Korea over different periods; and the differences between the Vietnam-South Korea strategic partnership and some other strategic partnerships to draw conclusions about the characteristics of this relationship.
- SWOT analysis method: The SWOT method (strengths-weaknesses-opportunities and threats) is used to analyze the Vietnam-Korea relationship, and based on that, to forecast the prospects for the future development of the relationship.
- Forecasting method: This method was used by the author to predict the Vietnam-South Korea relationship in the near future.
- Dialectical and historical materialism approach: The dissertation is based on the dialectical and historical materialism viewpoints of Marxism-Leninism, Ho Chi Minh Thought, the views of the Party and State, as well as the views of South Korea on international relations. In addition, the author utilizes documents on the foreign policy of Vietnam and South Korea, as well as agreements and treaties signed between the two countries that have been published and are relevant to the dissertation's content.
In addition, the thesis also uses several other supplementary methods such as logical, statistical, synthesis, and data processing methods to clarify the research arguments and the author's assessments.
Main results and new contributions of the thesis:
- The dissertation clarifies theoretical issues related to strategic partnerships, levels of partnership, and the position of strategic partnerships in foreign relations.
- This thesis presents insights into the development of economic cooperation between Vietnam and South Korea from the time the two countries established a strategic partnership until 2020, based on an analysis of key areas such as trade, investment, and official development assistance (ODA).
- The thesis has drawn conclusions about the influence and impact of bilateral economic cooperation on the development of several other areas within the Vietnam-Korea strategic partnership.
- The thesis provided a forecast on Vietnam-Korea strategic partnership relations and proposed solutions to strengthen the strategic partnership in the economic field between the two countries in the future.
- The novelty of this thesis lies in clarifying the characteristics of the Vietnam-Korea strategic partnership in the economic field during a period of significant global and regional changes, as well as providing forecasts for future bilateral relations. 11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis
Research purpose: The thesis will focus on the strategic partnership relationship between Vietnam and South Korea in the period 2009-2020.
Research object: The thesis focuses on studying the relationship between Vietnam and Korea in the economic field after the two countries upgraded their diplomatic relations in 2009.
Research point of view: Economy has always been considered as a pillar in the bilateral relationship, especially in the Vietnam-Korea relationship. The author will study the Vietnam-Korea relationship with focusing on the economic field, to make a forecast about the development prospect of the relationship.
Research methods: The thesis studies the relationship between two countries in the economic field, so it uses mainly international relations research methods:
- Policy analysis method: analyze the content and objectives of Vietnam's foreign policy.
- Benefit analysis method: evaluate the benefits of Vietnam and Korea in the process of economic cooperation.
- Methods of history and chronology: organize information, learn about the history of the international, regional and domestic contexts of Vietnam and Korea when the two countries established the relationship.
- Comparative - contrasting method: point out the similarities between Vietnam and Korea; compare the concept of strategic partnership of Vietnam with Korea and the world; the characteristics of the Korean relationship and some other partners; changes in trade and investment relations between Vietnam and Korea over time; the difference between the relationship between Vietnam and Korea.
