11. Summary ofnew resultsof the thesis:
This is the first thesis in Vietnam to study social dependence in group learning of students. The study has obtained the following new results:
- Confirm the existence of social dependence phenomenon in student study groups at an average level.
- ExpressionSocial dependence of students when studying in groups includes: “Neglect, dependence”, “Passive, not enthusiastic in speaking”, “Not actively contributing”.
- There are differences in the level of social dependence of students according to some cross-sections such as admission subjects, courses, roles in groups, and group size. Specifically: Students from high school graduates have a higher level of social dependence than students who have been in the military; Group leaders have a lower level of social dependence than group members; The larger the group size, the higher the level of social dependence of group members; third-year students have a lower level of social dependence than second-year and final-year students..
- The level of social dependence in group study of students is directly or indirectly influenced by many subjective and objective factors.
- Among the factors that can predict the level of social dependence when studying in groups of students, there are factors that can increase the level of social dependence and factors that can reduce this phenomenon.
- Social dependence in student group learning can cause certain consequences such as negative impact on the effectiveness of performing the group's common task, reducing the efforts of other members in the learning group.
- When the group size increases from 3 students to 19 students, nThe more teachers are aware of students' task performance in study groups, the less socially dependent students will be;KWhen students are assigned tasks that are higher than their abilities, they will be less socially dependent when studying in groups.
- CThe more aware the group members are of their social dependence, the more likely they are to increase their efforts to compensate for their groupmates. In response to the groupmates' compensatory responses, the socially dependent members tend to further reduce their efforts and dependence, which leads to lower overall group performance.
12. Applicability of the thesis:The research results of the thesis can create a basis for research and organization of effective group teaching and learning process, especially at People's Public Security schools in particular and armed forces schools in general.
13. Further research directions:
Expanding the scope of research on social dependence in group learning at universities nationwide.

11. Summary ofthe new findingsof the thesis:
This is the first doctoral thesis examining students' social loafing in team-based learning in Vietnam. There are some new findings as follows:
- This study confirms the existence ofsocial loafing in learning teams of students, and the social loafing might be considered as moderate in magnitude. Manifestations of cadets' social loafing in team learning contextscomposed ofthree aspects: “slacking off, dependent"; “passive, unwilling to comment”; “do notcontributeactively”.
-There were significant differences in levels of students' social loafing in terms of student's year, group size, type of candidate for cadet enrolment, role in a learning team: students who graduated from high school have a higher degree of social loafing than students who have participated in military service; Team leadersare less likely toengage in social loafingthan members; If the group size is larger, members are more prone to social loafing; Juniors engagement are less likely toengagein social loafing than sophomores and seniors.
-Students' ssocial loafing were directly and indirectly influenced by many subjective and objective factors.Among the predictors of students' ssocial loafing, there were not only factors that could increase the likelihood of social loafingbut alsofactors that were likely to reduce it.
- Certain consequences of students' social loafing were identified, such as negative impact on team performance as well as effort reduction of other team members.
- As group size increased from 3 to 19 students, if students perceive that their tutor was well aware of their task performance, they would beless likely toengagein social loafing; The more difficult the assigned tasks which students received, the less likely those students with better academic ability would engage in social loafing.
-The more students perceive their teammates' social loafing, the more likely they will be to increase their efforts to compensate for their teammates. Compensatory actions of team members make social loafers tend to continue social loafing that leads to an increasingly decrease in the overall team performance.
12.Practical applicability:
The present research results can be used effectively for planning and management of teaching and learning process in the universities under theMinistry of Public Securityin particular and the udiversityin armed forces in general.
13. Further research directions:Further studies on social loafing in team-based learning settings should be conducted among a wide variety of universities in the whole country.
