- Theoretical basis:This work uses Vietnamese research methods to compare the similarities and differences between two ancient villages, Duong Lam, Vietnam and Duong My, China.
- In terms of practice: This is the first research project to compare the different characteristics of two typical ancient villages of Vietnam and China. This will be a reference project for interdisciplinary and parallel research directions.

The study of two ancient villages of Vietnam and China will contribute to finding the national identity of the two countries. From the unique characteristics, we can recognize the different elements of each region to recognize and preserve. In addition, the theoretical approach in the study of Vietnamese studies or area studies also provides theoretical issues on comparing ancient villages of the countries.
