11. Summary of new results of the thesis:
(1) Based on the systematization of theoretical and practical studies on the current status of people's participation in health insurance, the thesis has added a new approach when studying the aspect of using health insurance in medical examination and treatment of a specific group of people with disabilities and does not exclude any type of disability in all 6 types of disabilities: mobility, vision, hearing-speech, intelligence, mental, other disabilities (including people with multiple disabilities).
(2) By combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, the thesis has identified the awareness and needs of health insurance of PWDs in the research area, thereby clarifying the level of use and habits of using health insurance in medical examination and treatment of PWDs at medical facilities, thereby identifying some influencing factors.
(3) By combining quantitative and qualitative research methods, the thesis has studied the assessments of PWDs and some related parties on: medical examination and treatment procedures; qualifications/skills of doctors, service attitude of medical staff; quality of technical services for medical examination and treatment; drugs provided under health insurance and payment levels of health insurance when PWDs receive medical examination and treatment. Thereby, focusing on identifying the barriers/inadequacies that PWDs encounter in reality. At the same time, identifying some factors belonging to PWDs and factors outside of PWDs that affect these aspects.
(4) The thesis has proposed a number of solutions and recommendations to improve the current shortcomings for PWDs when using health insurance for medical examination and treatment, aiming to provide an increasingly complete health care service for PWDs at current medical facilities.
12. Practical application:
- The Ministry of Health in general and health facilities using health insurance in particular can refer to the main findings of the thesis, thereby creating a basis for developing more complete solutions in providing health care services to people at current health facilities.
- The thesis will provide managers and policy makers with an overview of the implementation of the Health Insurance Law in current medical examination and treatment activities for PWDs. The collected data on health insurance examination and treatment of PWDs as well as factors affecting this process will be the basis for managers to have more effective policy solutions to promote the rights of PWDs, while also mobilizing more proactive and positive participation from the PWD community in the implementation of the Health Insurance Law.
13. Further research directions:
- Conduct research on disabled people in other localities to form a more comprehensive picture of the use of health insurance by disabled people in Vietnam.
- Research on the use of health insurance in medical examination and treatment of some other disadvantaged groups in society.

11. Summary of the new findings of the thesis:
(1) Based on the systematization of theoretical and practical studies on the current state of people's participation in health insurance, the thesis has added a new approach when studying the aspect of using health insurance in medical examination and treatment of target objects people with disabilities (PWDs). The thesis does not exclude any types of disability in all six types of disability: mobility, vision, hearing-communication, cognition, psycho-social, and other disabilities (which includes people with multiple disabilities).
(2) By using the mixed method of quantitative and qualitative in Sociology, the thesis has identified the awareness and need for health insurance for people with disabilities in the study area. After that, clarify the frequency of use and habits of using health insurance in medical examination and treatment of PWDs at medical facilities and identify many influencing factors.
(3) By using the mixed method of quantitative and qualitative in Sociology, the thesis has shown the evaluations of PWDs and many stakeholders on medical examination and treatment procedures; qualifications/skills of doctors, service attitude of medical staff; quality of medical examination and treatment technical services; drugs are provided by health insurance and the payment of health insurance premiums when people with disabilities receive medical examination and treatment. After that, the thesis has focused on identifying barriers/inadequacies that PWDs face in practice. In addition, the thesis has identified some factors belonging to PWDs and factors outside PWDs affecting these aspects.
(4) The thesis has proposed some solutions and recommendations to improve the existing limitations for PWDs when using health insurance for medical examination and treatment, aiming to provide an increasingly complete health care service for PWDs at current health facilities.
12. Practical applicability:
- The Ministry of Health and hospitals can use the main findings of this thesis to build more comprehensive solutions to improve health care services for people in health facilities today.
- The thesis will provide managers and stays with an overview of the implementation of the health insurance law in current medical examination and treatment activities for people with disabilities. The result of the thesis is the basis for managers to have more effective policy solutions to promote the rights of people with disabilities and mobilize more active participation from the PWD community in implementing the law on health insurance.
