Based on the synthesis of in-depth interview responses from journalists, managers of press agencies and experts, along with sociological investigation methods, the author distributed 300 survey forms on public interest and evaluation of the content and form of 30 reports on the issue of Climate Change, including 10 reports broadcast live by 3 stations: THTPCT, THVL and CTV.
Specifically, the thesis has researched and shown that along with other journalism genres, reportage plays an extremely important role in informing about issues related to climate change, helping the public to perceive the true nature of the problem, raise awareness, and join hands with the community to prevent and effectively respond to climate change, in order to minimize the damage caused by climate change.
In addition to the advantages, the reports on Climate Change on the three surveyed stations also have limitations in terms of content, visual language, and simple commentary to the point of repetition, similarity, "like brothers in the same family", causing frustration for viewers; the number of reports on Climate Change is still modest (in 2020, Can Tho City Television broadcast a total of 1,123 reports, of which only 134 were climate change reports; Vinh Long station had 2,260, of which 219 were climate change reports and Ca Mau station had 1,095, of which 251 were climate change reports).
Through the survey, the television report on climate change not only provided a lot of useful information in this field, but also found solutions to improve the quality of television reports on climate change of THTPCT, THVL and CTV in the coming time.
