10. Summary of the thesis results:
By describing and analyzing the history of the origin, development, and characteristics of the plantation economy in the Dutch East Indies (1870-1942), this thesis provides a clear view of a typical colonial economic model in Southeast Asia. The plantation economy in the Dutch East Indies originated during the Dutch East India Company (VOC) era, developing in the late 19th and early 20th centuries and playing a key role throughout the history of the colonial economy. The development and expansion of plantations contributed to the promotion and shaping of Dutch colonialism. Meanwhile, the deep links of the plantation economy with the international economy during this period caused significant socio-economic transformations in the East Indies, the legacy of which has had a profound impact on the economic history of Indonesia in the modern and contemporary periods.

This thesis analyzes and explains the rapid development of plantation economics during the period from 1870 to 1942 and its connection to the development of Dutch colonial rule in the East Indies (present-day Indonesia). The thesis can serve as a research and teaching resource on world history and modern-contemporary Southeast Asian history, contributing to a comparative analysis and clarification of the history of plantation economics in other colonial countries in the region, including Vietnam.
