Professor Ooi Keat Gin is a Malaysian historian, a Fellow of the Royal Historical Society (FRHistS), and was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal (Pingat Jasa Kebaktian) of Malaysia for individuals who have made outstanding and dedicated contributions to the community and the State.
Professor Ooi Keat Gin is currently working at the Brunei Academy, University of Brunei Darussalam (since 2022). He is a visiting professor at the ASEAN Research Institute, Busan University of Foreign Studies, Busan, South Korea (since 2021); and an honorary professor in the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Universiti Sains Malaysia (2020–2021).
He is also an honorary advisor to the International Journal of Asia Pacific Studies (since 2020); Deputy Editor-in-Chief of SUVANNABHUMI: Multidisciplinary Journal of Southeast Asian Studies (since 2019); Member of the International Advisory Board, Nusantara: International Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities (since 2020); and Member of the International Advisory Board, Borneo Research Bulletin (since 2023).
He has published 19 individual monographs, 2 joint books, edited and co-edited 16 other works, and contributed over 100 articles to specialized scientific journals as an independent author and co-author.
