In addition to its training mission, the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training is also one of the leading centers for journalism and communication research in the country. The Institute is a center for basic research, applied research, and the implementation of research results to serve the training and research activities in journalism and communication at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities; it compiles scientific materials and information on the field of journalism and communication to serve training, and provides consultancy to ministries, agencies, organizations, businesses, and society.

- The university has successfully completed the acceptance of 12 research projects at the Vietnam National University level (achieving good and excellent results); 20 research projects at the university level (achieving good and excellent results); and 3 state-level scientific research projects.
- Currently implementing one state-level scientific research project, six projects at the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and numerous university-level projects, along with collaborative scientific projects with domestic ministries and agencies.

The Institute's faculty members have compiled more than 23 textbooks and 30 specialized lectures, nearly 30 monographs, and translated more than 15 documents on foreign journalism.
