This morning, September 30, 2026, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Historical Science Association held its 8th National Congress, for the term 2026-2031, and announced the results of the election of the Executive Committee and the Association's leadership for the 8th term.
At the Congress, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim - former Party Secretary and former Vice Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi - was elected Chairman of the Vietnam Historical Science Association for the 8th term, reflecting the high regard for his academic prestige, leadership capacity, and enduring contributions to the national historical community. In his new position, with his strategic vision and profound research thinking, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim's leadership is expected to further strengthen the Association's connecting role, promote the development of key research directions, and open new avenues for Vietnamese historiography in the era of integration.
At the same time, Hanoi National University and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities had 05 educators and scientists who participated in the Central Executive Committee of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, 8th term, including:
- Prof. Dr. Vu Minh Giang (Former Head of the History Department, University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Former Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, 7th term) - Standing Committee Member of the Central Executive Board of the Association.
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Quang Ngoc (Former Head of the Faculty of History and Culture, University of Social Sciences and Humanities; Former Director of the Institute of Vietnamese Studies and Development Sciences, Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association, 7th term) - Standing Committee Member of the Central Executive Board of the Association.
- Prof. Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Former Party Secretary - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Association.
- Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan (Secretary of the Party Committee - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - Standing Committee Member of the Central Executive Board of the Association.
- Assoc. Prof. Dr. Vu Van Quan (Former Head of Department, Chairman of the Scientific and Training Council of the Faculty of History and Culture, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - Member of the Central Executive Committee of the Association.

The presence of generations of VNU-USSH educators and scientists in the Central Executive Committee of the Association is not only a recognition of their contributions to research and training, but also demonstrates the continuation of the academic tradition and the Faculty's responsibility towards the development of Vietnamese historiography.
