Associate Professor, Doctor, Senior Lecturer, Meritorious Teacher Ngo Dang Tri belongs to the generation of "From school to the battlefield and then from the battlefield back to school". In nearly 40 years of his career, he has had over 130 works published at home and abroad, successfully guided hundreds of bachelor's theses, more than 50 master's theses, nearly 10 doctoral theses in history, and I am one of the students who was fortunate enough to be directly guided by him at all three levels of study. Associate Professor, Dr., Meritorious Artist Ngo Dang Tri was born into a family with a tradition of patriotism and revolution in Truc Lam commune (Ha Linh), Huong Khe district, Ha Tinh province. According to the bookGenealogy of the Ngo family in Vietnam, he is the 13th descendant of Duke Ngo Canh Huu, the 11th descendant of Marquis Ngo Dang Minh (the temple and tomb of these two in Ha Tinh have both been ranked as national historical and cultural relics; Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Artist Ngo Dang Tri is currently a standing member of the Ngo Clan Council of Vietnam). The father of Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Artist Ngo Dang Tri is Mr. Ngo Quoc Van (1906-1995), his mother is from the Hoang family (Tung Anh, Duc Tho, Ha Tinh). Mr. Ngo Quoc Van was a communist party member since 1930, was arrested by feudal colonialists and imprisoned in Lao Bao (1931-1938) and Buon Ma Thuot (1942-1945). Mr. Ngo Quoc Van was awarded the Third Class Independence Medal.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Dang Tri belongs to the generation of "From school to the battlefield"and“From the battlefield back to school”In 1970, he passed the entrance exam to Hanoi University of Science and was placed in the History Department. In 1972, when he was a third-year student of the 15th class (when the school was evacuated to Hiep Hoa, Ha Bac), he and many friends "put down the pen and go to war.As a party member, squad leader, then regimental logistics assistant, after participating in the campaigns to liberate Phuoc Long, Tay Nguyen,..., on the morning of April 30, 1975, his unit was on the way to Cho Gao (My Tho), Can Duoc, Can Giuoc (Long An), to attack and capture Cau Chu Y (Saigon), when the war ended. Diary volumes:I think to act, Days of holding guns, The Southern Road,..recorded in detail his student life and military life, which he still carefully preserved.

In August 1976, with the rank of Sergeant, he received the decision to leave the army, from the Dong Thap Muoi region, where the unit was participating in economic development, to return to Hanoi University, continuing his third year of study with students of the 19th course of the Faculty of History. At the end of 1978, he graduated from university (4.5 years program) and was retained at the University as a lecturer of the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam until now.

In 1989, he successfully defended his PhD thesis at the School under the guidance of Professor, People's Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam and Associate Professor, People's Teacher Le Mau Han. In 2002, he was awarded the title of Associate Professor, in 2008 he was awarded the title of Merited Teacher, and in 2012 he was recognized as a Senior Lecturer.

From 1990 to 1996, he held the position of Deputy Head of the Department, from 1997 to 2005 and from 2009 to present, he is the Head of the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam, Faculty of History. From 2005 to 2009, he was the Deputy Head of the Faculty of History. He also held many other positions, such as: Chairman of the School Trade Union, Party Committee member, Standing member of the Party Committee of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (2000-2006); Vice Chairman of the Trade Union of VNU (2001-2007). Regardless of his position, he is always dedicated, diligent, meticulous in his work, completing all assigned responsibilities well.

Through nearly 40 years on the podium and with his scientific enthusiasm, Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Dang Tri has passed on his teaching experience and effective scientific research methods to generations of students, postgraduate students and many colleagues in the History field in general, and the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam in particular. Up to now, he has guided hundreds of students, 55 postgraduate students and 8 postgraduate students to successfully defend their theses, dissertations and historical dissertations on the History of the Communist Party of Vietnam. His dedication to the teaching profession is also reflected in the fact that his entire family is in the research and teaching profession.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Dang Tri has also participated and chaired many scientific conferences in the country and has been present at more than 10 conferences and scientific exchanges abroad. He has chaired and participated in many scientific research topics at all levels, published over 130 research works (including co-authored), including more than 50 monographs, textbooks and more than 80 articles published in specialized scientific journals, conference proceedings at home and abroad.

Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Artist Ngo Dang Tri is Deputy Head of the Faculty of History (2005-2009); Head of the Department of History of the Communist Party of Vietnam (1997-2005; 2009-present).

He is always mentioned by generations of students, graduate students, and researchers with gratitude and respect as a scientist who often discussed specialized concepts according to Sino-Vietnamese etymology, a dedicated, exemplary teacher with a simple, sincere, virtuous lifestyle, always sympathetic and guiding students, but also very strict and proper with them in studying and researching.

Associate Professor, Dr. Ngo Dang Tri often confided to his students and colleagues that he had basically completed the path of a people's teacher, had certain contributions to the Department, the Faculty, the School and the country during wartime as well as peacetime, was always proud of his students, and was extremely grateful to his teachers and the places where he had studied, fought and worked. He was honored to receive many medals and certificates of merit at all levels, such as:Liberation Soldier Medal,Medal of resistance against America, saving the country,Certificate of Merit from the Director of VNU University of Education, from the Minister of Education and Training, of the President of the Vietnam General Confederation of Labor, of the Prime Minister and Third Class Labor Medal of the President.

The Department of Party History, headed by Associate Professor, Doctor, Lecturer, Meritorious Student Ngo Dang Tri, currently has 8 permanent staff (including 4 Associate Professors, 3 PhDs, 1 Master of Science). The Department has a very important, honorable and heavy mission of training Bachelors, Masters, and Doctors of Science inParty Historyin the Faculty of History, also teaching the subjectRevolutionary line of the Communist Party of Vietnamfor all VNU students. His wish is that when the term of the 4th term (2014-2019) ends, he will build a team of successor cadres with sufficient quantity and high quality to help the Department of Party History, Faculty of History continue to develop, achieving many new and better achievements in both training and scientific research in the next stages./.
