Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy is one of the leading scientists in Information and Library Science (ITS) in Vietnam. With more than 30 years of working and dedicating to the career of training and scientific research, she has made remarkable contributions to the development of the ITS sector in Vietnam in general and to the ITS sector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi in particular.

Born into a family with a tradition of revolution and education, Associate Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Artist Tran Thi Quy has inherited and continued the good tradition of her family. She always strives to do her best in studying and working, always serious and enthusiastic in all tasks. Noble titles and awards such as Excellent Teacher, Third-class Labor Medal are recognitions from the State and society for her tireless contributions over the past 30 years.

Her contributions are clearly shown in areas such as: building and developing a strong Faculty of Information and Communication Technology; proposing many pioneering research directions in the field of modern Information and Communication Technology and building a system of lectures and basic textbooks to serve the training of high-quality human resources for the Information and Communication Technology industry.

As the second generation leader of the Faculty of Information and Library Science, immediately after taking office, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy and the Faculty were determined to bring the Faculty to a new level of development in quality, from a small department under the University to an independent training faculty with 3 affiliated departments. In management, she is always serious and diligent in her work. She is especially interested in developing the teaching staff in both quality and quantity, making the Faculty of Information and Library Science a training institution with the largest, most dedicated and highly qualified teaching staff in the country. 90% of the staff have postgraduate degrees.

Along with expanding domestic and international cooperation, the Faculty has become a prestigious training, research and scientific consulting institution in the field of Information and Communications. She directly directs the research, development and innovation of training programs in the system in a modern and updated direction. The content of many new subjects in the training program has been applied from her research results. On that basis, the training products of the Faculty after graduation are of high quality. After graduation, students have been and are developing well the needs of society and career needs. The subjects she researched and developed have been studied by many training institutions across the country and included in their training programs... That is the valuable achievement that Associate Professor, Dr., Meritorious Student. Tran Thi Quy has left for future generations of lecturers and students.

In scientific research, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy has always been a pioneer in introducing new research directions for the industry, typically the following:Scientific research direction on History of books and libraries; career of information and communication; state management of information and communication activities; information science; information serving leadership; development of information resources; processing information in traditional and modern directions; scientific classification and classification of documents...The results of these studies have made significant contributions to the development of the information and library industry in Vietnam. The in-depth research ideas of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy have made an important contribution to perfecting the theory and development orientation of the information and library career, including the career of training human resources for the industry under the strong impact of information and communication technology and the needs of the society. Following this research direction, Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy has deeply researched: the role of books/documents, the role of information and library activities in the development of the Vietnamese revolutionary cause through historical periods; the information and library career after 30 years of renovation; research on standards for modern information and library agencies; research on current information and library human resources in response to the demands of professional practice.from which specific solutions are found to improve the quality of training to meet social needs. In theory, the research results have clarified the role and importance of information and communication activities in the development of cultural, ideological, scientific and technological activities; education and training of the Party and State to serve the cause of innovation in Vietnam today. In practice, the results of the research direction have helped to assess the current status of training program content, training organizations, find out the causes, and propose solutions to improve the quality of training human resources in the information and communication industry.

Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy is the author of textbooks and basic reference materials of the industry such as: Information processing; Scientific classification and document classification; Automation of information - library activities; History of books; Development of information resources... These documents have been used in many training facilities of the Information and Television industry nationwide. In addition, she is also the author of quality articles in specialized journals, reports at domestic and foreign conferences, scientific research projects at all levels...

The greatest achievement of the scientific research and training career of Associate Professor, Dr. Tran Thi Quy is that she has contributed to training and building a high-quality human resource for the information and library industry nationwide. Many bachelors she taught, masters and doctors she guided scientifically are holding important positions in agencies from central to local levels. With the knowledge and enthusiasm for the profession that she imparted, they are promoting their abilities well in different positions. She is always a role model, a shining example of a serious attitude in work and study, of the kindness of a teacher. She is the image of a diligent ferryman, devoted to teaching and scientific research, contributing to nurturing future generations.
