On November 15th, the Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities (USSH), Vietnam National University, Hanoi, celebrated its 30th anniversary (1995 - 2025) with the message "Humanistic Tourism - Spreading Wings to the Future".
The celebration commemorates the 30-year journey of the Faculty of Tourism Studies and affirms its prestige within the higher education system.

Speaking at the 30th Anniversary Celebration of the Faculty, Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung - Head of the Faculty of Tourism Studies, emphasized: “With a spirit of unity, innovation, autonomy, and development, the Faculty of Tourism Studies will continue to cherish the past, look towards the future, constantly innovate, create, and integrate, contributing to the successful implementation of the Resolution of the Party Congress of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the 2025-2030 term for the development of the university and the development of the Vietnamese tourism industry.”
Dr. Nguyen Ngoc Dung shared that, on this new path, the Faculty of Tourism Studies will continue to review and adjust existing training programs towards a modern, integrated approach, closely linked to the specific development characteristics of Vietnamese tourism; strengthen research orientation, especially in postgraduate training, in line with the university's research university model.
The Faculty will develop a high-quality faculty, striving for 100% of faculty members to hold doctoral degrees, with at least one Professor and five Associate Professors, ensuring enhanced teaching, research, and academic management capabilities.
Speaking at the ceremony, Deputy Director of the Vietnam National Tourism Administration, Ha Van Sieu, affirmed that over its 30-year development, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has become a pioneering brand in training human resources and conducting tourism research in Vietnam. In line with the overall development of the industry, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has been recognized and highly appreciated by the Ministry of Education and Training, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism, and the Vietnam National Tourism Administration (formerly the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism).
Notably, it received a commendation from the Prime Minister in 2022. More recently, at the Vietnam Tourism Awards 2025 ceremony, the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism honored the Faculty of Tourism Studies, Hanoi University of Social Sciences and Humanities, as the "Best Tourism Training Institution," a testament to the faculty's brilliant achievements over the past three decades.

Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu emphasized that tourism is increasingly asserting its position as a key industry, shifting from quantitative growth to in-depth, high-quality, and sustainable development. To meet the industry's capacity and scale requirements, the tourism sector needs 3 to 5 million direct and indirect workers professionally trained in tourism and related fields.
“In the coming period, with the requirements for innovation and the application of science and technology in training and developing human resources as clearly stated in Resolution 57 and Resolution 71 of the Politburo, the Faculty of Tourism Studies needs to further build upon its achievements. It should continue its efforts in training and research in the tourism sector, in line with the national strategic orientation and the global context of digital transformation, green tourism, circular economy, smart tourism, and the application of artificial intelligence in training and developing human resources for tourism…” - Deputy Director Ha Van Sieu emphasized.
Mr. Ha Van Sieu expressed his confidence that, with its pioneering, creative, and developmental spirit, the Faculty of Tourism Studies will continue to be a leading training and research center, making a significant contribution to elevating Vietnam's tourism industry to new heights and ensuring its sustainability in the new era.

Since 1995, the Faculty of Tourism Studies has continuously expanded its scale. It was the first unit in the country to offer a Master's degree in tourism (in 2003), opened a specialization in event management at the undergraduate level (in 2013), and offered a Doctoral degree in tourism (in 2018), making a significant contribution to shaping tourism studies as an independent scientific discipline.
International cooperation activities were intensified from 2013 to 2018, with strategic partners from Germany, Japan, China, and neighboring countries in the region.
With its extensive international cooperation network and hundreds of prestigious research projects, the Faculty of Tourism Studies contributes to shaping modern tourism knowledge and promoting the sustainable development of the tourism industry.
