Social sciences and humanities in the digital age

(Hanoi Television) In the development strategy of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities plays a core role, leading research on culture and people within the social sciences.

Amidst the nationwide strong implementation of resolutions on science and technology development, innovation, digital transformation, and breakthroughs in education and training, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, enters its 80th anniversary and 30th anniversary celebrations with the mindset of a research-oriented university, continuing to affirm its leading role in the digital age.
From the Faculty of Literature established by a decree signed by President Ho Chi Minh just one month after the birth of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam, to Hanoi University in 1956, and the School of Social Sciences and Humanities under the Vietnam National University, Hanoi since 1995, this university, bearing the mark of the Faculty of Literature and General Studies, has accompanied the country's major turning points, training tens of thousands of intellectuals, scientists, leaders, and managers in many fields. Currently, the university has 15 faculties, 2 institutes, and 1 specialized high school with over 500 staff members, of which about 80% of lecturers hold doctoral degrees.
Entering a new phase, the University aims to become a smart, research-leading university, focused on addressing major national challenges, while simultaneously preserving and disseminating Vietnamese cultural values. By 2035, the vision is to be among the top 100 universities in Asia and the top 450 universities worldwide in the field of social sciences and humanities.
Professor Hoang Anh Tuan, Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, stated:"The school's philosophy is encapsulated in three words: culture, modernity, and openness; tradition serves as a foundation and strength for the school's future development, enabling it to make practical contributions to the country."
In the development strategy of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is identified as the core unit in the social sciences and humanities sector, undertaking research directions on culture, people, institutions, and sustainable development, linked to the goal of building an elite university with top-level research.
Associate Professor Hoang Minh Son, Director of Hanoi National University, shared:"The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a key university within the Vietnam National University, Hanoi, and must become a university that trains elite individuals and conducts top-level research in the fields of social sciences and humanities, closely linked to research areas that address major problems impacting the country, and to cultivate and nurture talents, later becoming leading scientists and great intellectuals for the nation."
Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Kim Son, Minister of Education and Training, emphasized:We believe that, with its tradition, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities will continue to play a leading role in the field of social sciences and humanities in the country and make further significant contributions to the development of science and technology, education and training, human development, and the nation in the present and future."
