At the beginning of the meeting, on behalf of the Board of Directors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vice President Lai Quoc Khanh congratulated Mr. Khamton Samvong on his official appointment as Cultural Counselor, Embassy of the Lao People's Democratic Republic in Vietnam, and expressed his hope that during his term, the Counselor will personally support and facilitate cooperation activities between the University and the Embassy and educational and cultural organizations in Laos.

Vice President Lai Quoc Khanh shared: In recent times, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has actively participated in training and fostering high-quality human resources for Laos (both bachelor, master and doctoral levels) as well as short-term training courses for staff. The University is very grateful for the trust and effective cooperation of the Lao Embassy in this work. Although Mr. Khamton Samvong has just taken up his assignment in Vietnam, he has a special affection for the University. In today's meeting, the University hopes to hear specific opinions and proposals from the Counselor to further improve the quality of training and the content of cooperation between the two sides in the coming time.
Cultural Counselor, Embassy of Laos Khamton Samvong expressed his joy when visiting the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. He shared: As a former student of the University, I am always grateful for the teachings of the teachers, and sincerely thank the University for its support to our country. Over the years, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has received many Lao students to study, improve their knowledge, cultivate their moral qualities, and then become good experts and cadres who return to contribute to Laos.

To promote these achievements, Mr. Khamton Samvong expressed his wish that the School would strengthen cooperation to help Lao students and staff improve their Vietnamese language skills and gain a deeper understanding of Vietnamese culture. In addition, he also proposed that the two sides coordinate to organize many cultural exchange activities and competitions to learn about Vietnamese history and culture to attract a large number of Lao students to participate, helping them improve their Vietnamese language skills and strengthen the close friendship between the two countries.
Speaking at the reception, representatives of functional departments and the school’s Youth Union affirmed that all departments and teachers in the school are ready to support Lao students and trainees studying at the school, not only in studying, but also in life. However, students also need to boldly discuss, propose requests or share difficulties so that teachers can promptly support them.
Dr. Dinh Tien Hieu (Deputy Head of the Department of Student Affairs and Training) spoke.
The representative of the Cooperation and Development Department proposed a number of solutions to improve the quality of training: The Lao Government needs to select good students and staff to send to study in Vietnam. Before registering for a bachelor's degree program, Lao students can participate in short-term training courses to supplement their Vietnamese language skills. It is recommended to supplement Vietnamese language certificates (according to the Vietnamese language proficiency framework for foreigners developed by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training). This is a mandatory requirement in the output standards of each training level.
Dr. Pham Hoang Hung (Head of Cooperation and Development Department) spoke and proposed some solutions to improve the quality of training Lao students at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.
Mr. Cao Van Sy (Deputy General Director, Viet Culture Group) expressed his desire to accompany the School and the Lao Embassy in organizing many cultural and tourism events attracting the participation of a large number of Lao students, helping them to use Vietnamese fluently and improve their professional knowledge.
Concluding the meeting, Vice Principal Lai Quoc Khanh once again thanked the Lao Embassy and the Cultural Counselor for their attention and affection for the University. As a leading training institution in the country in the field of social sciences and humanities, fulfilling national responsibilities, we are always ready to welcome a large number of Lao students to study, improve their professional qualifications and provide maximum support so that they can complete their study program with the highest results. When graduating from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, students will feel proud and confident to be able to apply the knowledge and skills they have learned to build their homeland and build friendly relations between the two countries. At today's meeting, representatives of the two sides discussed and agreed on a number of specific cooperation activities: organizing short-term training courses on Vietnamese language skills, enhancing cultural exchange activities, organizing competitions, clubs, and tours to learn about Vietnamese history, culture, landscapes, and cuisine for Lao students and students from other countries, etc.
