Attending the meeting with representatives from National Sun Yat-sen University were Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong (Vice Rector), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Trinh Thi Linh (Head of the Department of Psychology), Dr. Nguyen Thi Thai Lan (Head of the Social Work Department, Faculty of Sociology), Dr. Nguyen Minh Nguyet (Deputy Head of the Cooperation and Development Office), Ms. Pham Cham Anh (Deputy Head of the Scientific Research Management Office), and Dr. Tran Truc Ly (Faculty of Oriental Studies).
Opening the meeting, Vice Rector Dang Thi Thu Huong gave a brief overview of the history, strengths, and training programs of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, emphasizing that the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and National Chung Shan University signed an MOU in 2014, and many effective cooperation activities have been implemented in recent years, including student and faculty exchanges and the organization of international scientific conferences. Currently, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities offers many training programs from undergraduate to doctoral levels, as well as short courses and summer courses focusing on the language, culture, history, cuisine, and traditional clothing of Vietnam for foreigners. Therefore, in the future, the University hopes to welcome more students and trainees from Taiwan and National Chung Shan University for exchange, study, and research.

Dr. Hsueh-Hua (Shay) Chuang shared: National Sun Yat-sen University is a leading research university in Taiwan with a history of nearly 100 years, and has cooperative relationships with more than 250 universities from over 40 countries worldwide. Sun Yat-sen University includes a college specializing in social sciences, so the opportunities for cooperation between the two universities are vast. Therefore, we hope that both sides will renew the MOU with specific activities to promote more effective and extensive cooperation in the future.
As the Executive Director of the Research Project on Education and Human Development, Dr. Hsueh-Hua (Shay) Chuang provided an overview of the project's objectives, research areas, and scholarship funds from the government and Sun Yat-sen University to support international students and researchers (Master's and PhD levels). In addition to tuition support, students and researchers who publish papers in prestigious international journals (Q1-Q4) related to the project's fields may receive a stipend of up to NT$20,000 (approximately US$650) per publication.
Representatives from the Faculty of Psychology, Sociology, and Oriental Studies thanked the Executive Director for sharing useful and meaningful information about the Project; they also shared the experience of participating in collaborative research projects with many partners, including major universities around the world, in the fields of sociology and psychology, as experienced by the faculty's lecturers and students. Representatives from the faculties expressed their hope that in the future, a large number of students and trainees from the Faculty will receive scholarships from the Project to support their studies and scientific research, and that lecturers from both universities will exchange academic knowledge and enhance their expertise. Furthermore, they emphasized the need for increased cooperation between the two universities in organizing research and scientific conferences on topics of mutual interest.



Concluding the meeting, Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong expressed her gratitude to the representatives of National Sun Yat-sen University for their visit and for sharing valuable information with the students and faculty of the university. To further promote cooperation between the two universities, immediately following this meeting, both sides will discuss specific details to continue signing an MOU outlining programs and activities related to student and faculty exchange, joint organization of international conferences, etc., in 2023 and subsequent years.
Representatives from both schools exchanged gifts and took commemorative photos after the meeting.
