On September 29th and 30th, 2021, Facebook held the Asia-Pacific Regional Digital Thinking Conference 2021 with participating partners. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a strategic partner of Facebook in this program with the project "Developing Digital Competence for Students". The Faculty of Information and Library Science directly implemented and represented the university at this event.

The 2021 Digital Thinking Conference was attended by over 50 partners from 16 countries in the Asia-Pacific region, including Indonesia, Vietnam, Mongolia, Thailand, Hong Kong, India, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Japan, and the Pacific Islands. Representatives from UNICEF South Asia also participated. The main conference lasted half a day (September 29) and the workshop lasted half a day (September 30).

Through this conference, Facebook connects partners in the region, sharing experiences and successes in the We Think Digital program. Representatives from countries such as Thailand, Indonesia, India, Taiwan, and Vietnam shared their ongoing projects, providing valuable insights for partners to effectively implement the WTD program in their respective national contexts and for different target groups such as children, women, students, teachers, and lecturers.

In particular, the conference also discussed issues that countries are facing during the COVID-19 pandemic, including developing digital capacity for citizens to adapt well to the context of the pandemic and the digital environment. Vietnam had three representatives: the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnet-ICT Company, and Hoc Mai.

The University of Social Sciences and Humanities is a strategic partner of Facebook in the field of higher education, with a project to develop digital competencies for students. The goal of the project is to equip students with knowledge and skills in digital competence and thinking in a digital environment, thereby helping students to live, work, and study actively, proactively, and safely in the digital world.

The project's contents include:

  • Survey to assess students' digital skills.
  • Developing a digital competency framework for students: knowledge, skills, and self-responsibility.
  • Develop a guide to digital skills.
