School representatives cut the ribbon to open the Forum
The Forum was hosted by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi). Speaking at the Forum, Prof. Dr. Hoang Anh Tuan - Rector of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) - said that since its inception in 2014 with 12 participating universities, the Forum has become a sustainable cooperation mechanism between Vietnamese and Chinese educational institutions. The overarching goal is to promote comprehensive cooperation, stable development, enhance resource sharing and create additional advantages for member schools.
Over the past decade of operation, many exchange programs for staff, lecturers and students have been maintained regularly. International scientific conferences are held in rotation, contributing to the formation of a close academic network between schools of the two countries.
The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) alone is currently accepting 58 students from network schools such as Hong Ha Academy, Yunnan University of Economics and Finance, Yunnan Normal University, Yunnan Nationalities University, etc. for long-term study.

In addition to student exchanges, postgraduate training cooperation, research cooperation and academic exchanges between lecturers are also maintained regularly. The University of Social Sciences and Humanities (VNU) currently has extensive cooperation agreements with Honghe Academy, Yunnan University, Yunnan Normal University, Yunnan Agricultural University, Yunnan University of Economics and Finance, Yunnan Nationalities University, etc., creating an important foundation for long-term academic cooperation.
In this year's program, the Forum witnessed the signing ceremony of cooperation agreements between many universities of the two countries such as: Vietnam Forestry University and Southwest Forestry University; University of Information and Communication Technology (Thai Nguyen University) and Kunming University of Technology; International Faculty - Thai Nguyen University and Hong Ha Academy. This is considered one of the core values of the Forum - a place to connect, expand and realize cooperation agreements. In the new term, Wenshan Academy (China) will host the forum.
The forum has become a sustainable cooperation mechanism between Vietnamese and Chinese educational institutions.

The key activities of the 2025 Forum focus on summarizing the cooperation period of 2024-2025; strengthening trust, promoting more frequent exchanges of students - lecturers - staff; expanding the network of members and discussing cooperation orientations for 2026-2027, and nominating the host unit of the 7th Forum in China.
The highlight of the program is the “Educational Exchange of Universities in the Red River Basin”, taking place at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), introducing the academic space of nearly 30 universities in Vietnam and China. The event opens up opportunities to seek exchange programs and research cooperation, especially in the fields of social sciences and humanities, natural sciences, engineering and technology.

The 6th Forum of Rectors of Universities in the Red River Basin is not only a place to discuss educational cooperation trends but also a symbol of the cultural - scientific - training relationship between the two countries. Based on the common history of the Red River, the Forum continues to contribute to deepening the values of connection, promoting high-quality human resource training and enhancing understanding between Vietnamese and Chinese higher education institutions.
