Multidisciplinary approach in historical research and international relations in the 20th-21st century: From the perspective of Vietnamese and French scholars

This is a scientific issue discussed by many domestic and foreign scholars at the International Conference jointly organized by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Paul-Valéry University Montpellier 3 (France), the Diplomatic Academy, and the French Institute for the Preservation and Development of Traditional Culture on February 20.
Since the 1970s, world historians have continuously expanded the objects, approaches and methods of historical research, such as global history, transnational history, international history, military history, colonial history and decolonization, gender history, environmental history, etc. The field of history has continuously expanded its research fields by combining with other fields of social sciences and humanities, such as political science, international relations, anthropology or sociology... In that trend, historians and international relations researchers in Vietnam and France have also continuously innovated, absorbing new research achievements, especially new theories, approaches and research methods to serve the development of the field of history and international relations research in the two countries. water.
In order to enhance academic exchanges and interactions, and at the same time to introduce research achievements, new methods and approaches in historical research and international relations of Vietnamese and French scholars, the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), Paul-Valéry University Montpellier 3 (France) and the Diplomatic Academy, the French Institute for Preservation and Development of Traditional Culture jointly organized the Workshop: "Multidisciplinary approach in historical research and international relations in the 20th-21st century (From the perspective of Vietnamese and French scholars).

The conference gathered dozens of leading scientists, historians and international relations experts from universities and research institutes in Vietnam, France and several other countries, along with a large number of young researchers, graduate students and postgraduate students from Vietnam and France to exchange and share approaches and research methods in history and international relations, thereby enhancing mutual understanding and academic sharing among scholars in the two countries.
Through in-depth and elaborate research by domestic and foreign researchers, the Conference will contribute to systematizing and updating theories, approaches and research methods of history and international relations in the 20th and 21st centuries, especially new research methods, such as transnational history, global history, environmental history, world order, economic diplomacy, cultural diplomacy, soft power...
Also at this conference, scientists will suggest new research directions, new research methods and thinking in the fields of history and international relations, thereby promoting cooperation in science, technology and history education between the two countries.
