This was the theme adopted by delegates for the upcoming 2015-2016 academic year at the Conference of Public Officials and Staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. The conference took place on July 10, 2015 in Ninh Binh. Attendees included Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai, Vice Director of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Assoc. Prof. Dr. Dinh Van Huong, Chairman of the Trade Union of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; representatives from various departments and offices of Vietnam National University, Hanoi; Prof. Dr. Phung Huu Phu, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Quang Long, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Pham Xuan Hang, former Rectors of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities from different periods, along with the University's Board of Directors and 165 delegates representing over 500 public officials and staff of the entire university.

Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim (Party Committee Secretary, Vice Rector of the University) is presenting the report summarizing the 2014-2015 academic year and outlining the direction and tasks for the 2015-2016 academic year.

Following the opening remarks, the conference heard a report summarizing the 2014-2015 academic year and outlining the direction and tasks for the 2015-2016 academic year, presented by Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Kim, Secretary of the Party Committee and Vice Rector of the University.

This year's summary report specifically outlined the achievements in all aspects of the School's activities during the 2014-2015 academic year as follows: Regarding training activities, the first round of the regular university entrance examination was successfully organized using the competency assessment method; high-quality training programs in Linguistics and Psychology were launched; a new Hotel Management program was established and enrollment began; the projects to open Library Science and Religious Studies programs were completed; and three new specializations were implemented: Doctor of Religious Studies, Master of Vietnamese Cultural History, and Vietnamese Studies; doctoral enrollment increased by 11.2%; a Social Sciences and Humanities journal was established; and supplementary revenue for the 2014-2015 academic year increased by 11% compared to the previous year.

Regarding scientific research activities, the University is currently implementing 16 state-level projects, 18 Nafosted-funded projects, 5 provincial/city-level projects, 37 VNU-level projects, and 8 faculty members are assigned as project leaders for research/compilation projects under the "Research and Compilation of the History of Vietnam" project; publishing 21 textbooks, specialized books and reference books; publishing 429 articles in scientific journals, conferences and seminars; and organizing 25 scientific conferences/seminars, including 15 international conferences/seminars.

In addition to summarizing the achievements, the report also focuses on the main directions, tasks, and solutions to be implemented in the next academic year, 2015-2016, with the theme: Dynamic - Creative - Quality - Pioneering. This content attracted the participation and contributions of many delegates and scientists, as well as the attention and guidance of the leaders of Vietnam National University, Hanoi.

Issues related to the University's financial performance in 2014 were also reported to the conference by Assoc. Prof. Dr. Tran Thi Minh Hoa (Vice Rector of the University). Last year, the University's financial activities showed many positive aspects, receiving high praise from state and VNU inspection and audit teams.

At the meeting, the conference also heard Associate Professor Pham Quang Minh (Vice Rector of the University) present a report on building the university towards a research-oriented university. According to the statistical data based on the evaluation standards, the university achieved a total score of 625/1000 points, basically meeting the important criteria in the orientation to become a research university. Accordingly, the report also outlined the goal of achieving the research university standards according to Guideline 1206 of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (dated April 23, 2013) by 2020 and achieving the world-class research university standards by 2025.

On behalf of the leadership of Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU), Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai (Vice Director of VNU) highly appreciated the achievements of the University in the past academic year and welcomed the directions that the University has set for the upcoming academic year 2015-2016. In his speech, Assoc. Prof. Dr. Nguyen Hoang Hai also expressed his pride, saying, "If there is any unique point that VNU can introduce and 'show off' to the outside world, those points mostly come from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities."

The delegates cast their votes to elect the People's Inspection Committee.

Following the discussion session, the conference also proceeded to vote for the People's Inspection Committee for the 2015-2017 term, consisting of 5 members: Comrade Nguyen Thanh Binh (Faculty of Philosophy), Comrade Phung Thi Kim Oanh (Administration), Comrade Dinh Van Nam (Administration), Comrade Trinh Van Bang (Faculty of History), and Comrade Tran Thi Quang Hoa (Faculty of Political Science).

Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh (Rector of the University) delivered a concluding speech at the conference.

In his concluding remarks at the conference, Professor Nguyen Van Khanh emphasized several key issues that need attention in the coming period:

- Complete the projects to open new majors and specializations according to the roadmap for reforming the organization of training for existing programs, standardizing high-quality training in accordance with the new regulations. Invest in building and developing learning materials, and continue to innovate training methods and assessment.

- Effectively implement the Journal of Social Sciences and Humanities; complete existing state-level projects, focus on developing and implementing several new projects under the Northwest Program and the Nafosted Fund; promote solutions to increase international publications, especially publications with high impact factors (ISI and Scopus).

- Effectively implement the regulations on management decentralization and management operational procedures within the University of Social Sciences and Humanities.

- Continue to expand international collaborative training programs with various forms; complete the quality assessment of the University according to the standards of the Ministry of Education and Training and the Oriental Studies program according to AUN standards, and organize the assessment of high-quality training programs.
