Valedictorian Truong Thi Phuong Thanh: If I had to use one word for Psychology, I would use the word "Love"!

Thanh shared: “If I had to use one word for Psychology, I would use the word “Love”! My dream of pursuing Psychology has been there for a long time, probably since my early days in middle school. I found that understanding issues of human mental and psychological life was really difficult, but I wanted to challenge myself. Since then, I began to learn about and get to know the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU. Although my parents wanted me to pursue easier and more stable paths, I was still determined to fulfill my dream.

Talking about her plans for 4 years of university, Thanh said: I am currently taking a TOEIC course and will try to take the certificate exam in the near future. I also want to learn French. For me, foreign languages are very important, they can help me access foreign specialized documents so that I can expand my knowledge and understanding. Although the university environment is very different from the general environment, there will be many difficulties and challenges, but I am confident that I can achieve good results if I try hard.

Thanh is also an active female student as she is currently an admin for a page about Applied Psychology and a member of the Hanoi Human Resources Club HN HRC. She believes that participating in clubs and collective activities will help her improve and cultivate soft skills such as communication skills, teamwork skills, etc. to support her future work. After graduating, she wants to challenge herself in a corporate environment and delve into the direction of Business Administration Psychology.

Perhaps homesickness for students going to Hanoi to study at university is not a story of just anyone, and it is the same for Thanh. “The person who has the most influence on me is my mother” – Phuong Thanh shared – “My mother is always the one who supports all my decisions. When I stumble and fail, my mother is always there to comfort and lift me up. When I go to school far away from home, I really miss my mother, my hometown, my family, but my mother always encourages and motivates me to continue studying in these early days”.

Thanh also added: the friendliness of friends and teachers at school also helps her feel less bewildered and less pressured. Thanh eagerly awaits her happy and meaningful university years at the University of Humanities.
