Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan at the ceremony announcing the decision and assigning the task of training Master's students in Journalism and Media Management to the Institute of Journalism and Media Training.
According to Associate Professor Dr. Dang Thi Thu Huong - Director of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training, the Master's program in Journalism and Communication Management is an interdisciplinary program combining journalism and communication science with management science. For the first time in Vietnam, students are awarded a Master's degree in Journalism and Communication Management – unlike some current programs at other training institutions which still award a Master's degree in Journalism (and the transcript now shows the specialization in Journalism Management/Administration).
The program covers theoretical and practical knowledge of media management across three areas: political communication, media economics, and mass media culture. Notably, with its credit-based training format, the program is optimally designed so that students can complete the course and receive their degree within 18 months.
The program is highly "open," being suitable for all university graduates, with those graduating from related or different fields requiring a knowledge conversion course.

The implementation of the Master's program in Journalism and Media Management further expands the range of new training programs that the Institute has developed to meet societal needs over the past period.
Equipped with fundamental, interdisciplinary knowledge in both theory and practice, encompassing fields such as journalism and communication, management science, political science, and economics, graduates possess the necessary skills to work in media management, provide consulting and advisory services on media policy planning at media management and leadership agencies; manage media operations; administer media activities at media organizations; and manage communication activities at agencies, units, businesses, and organizations.

Placing journalism and media management within the context of the digital age, the Master's program includes many new, highly practical courses, such as:The Science and Art of Leadership and Management;Digital media management policies and strategies, Political media, Cybersecurity,Cmedia industry, Building and managing the brand of a media organization. Corporate communications, Managing and handling media crises. Data journalism, media audiences, and media markets...

On behalf of the Board of Directors, Vice Rector Hoang Anh Tuan highly appreciated the dynamism and creativity of the Institute of Journalism and Communication Training in building and developing high-quality training programs; anticipating social needs as well as modern journalism and communication trends; and filling the gaps in human resource training for the country's journalism and communication industry.
Previously, the Institute successfully developed an application-oriented Master's program in Journalism and a high-quality, socially-oriented Bachelor's program in Journalism, receiving positive feedback from the public.

In 2018, the Institute launched Master's programs in Applied Journalism in Vinh Long and Ca Mau; in 2019, it opened three more classes in Da Nang, Vinh Long, and Binh Duong.
The school hopes that the Master's Program in Journalism and Media Management, the first of its kind to be developed and offered, will continue to be a high-quality product, not only attracting students but also contributing to creating a unique mark and identity in the Institute's training activities.
