Recently, there have been quite a few overlapping questions, especially regarding scores and chances of passing. To help candidates feel more confident when submitting their applications, in this Q&A session, we will answer each question directly. Questions asked after 11:00 AM on August 20th will be answered at a later time.
hien @ 20:20, 15/08/2011: Hello teachers, my first choice (NV1) was not accepted, so I switched to my second choice (NV2), but the major is quite close to the minimum admission score for that major. Now I want to switch to another major to be more certain of getting into my second choice. So, I would like to ask if I can switch? Thank you teachers.
The deadline for submitting applications for the second round of admissions is from August 25th to September 15th, 2011. If you haven't submitted your application yet, please consider carefully before submitting it. Even if you have already sent it by mail, you can still withdraw your application between August 25th and September 8th, 2011. Please refer to the school's instructions on withdrawing applications here for more details.
Thu Trang @ 20:49, 15/08/2011: I got 18.5 (including extra credits). Teacher, can you tell me if the score for the second choice of major at the school will increase further?
The announced admission scores for the second round of applications are the minimum scores required for submission. All candidates whose exam results meet the announced minimum score are eligible to apply. However, the final admission score for the second round will be determined based on the quota and the exam results of candidates applying in all subject groups. With a score of 18.5 (even though you haven't specified which subject group you took the exam in), your chances are quite high. Carefully consider the majors that accept second-round applications to make a suitable choice. Good luck!
Thu @ 22:18, 15/08/2011: Dear teacher, I would like to ask if the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities accepts applications from first-choice applicants (1B)? If I fail to get into a major like Oriental Studies, for example, can I transfer to another major with a lower admission score but currently lacking vacancies, such as Literature?
The school does not offer admissions for the first choice (1B). Candidates who register to take the entrance exam but are not admitted for their first choice can register for admission for their second choice.
Do Minh Thu @ 01:56, August 16, 2011: Dear teachers, I have been accepted into the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities (Group D) as my first choice. Will the school send the admission letter to my address, or only to candidates who took the Group C exam? Do I need to go to the Foreign Languages Training Department to pick up the letter?
Huynh Vi @ 12:35, August 16, 2011: I was admitted to the first-choice program at the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities, Group D. After reading the announcement about the entrance exam results, I saw that I needed to contact the Training Department of the University of Foreign Languages. So, I would like to ask if I need to contact the Training Department of the University of Foreign Languages to get my results, or if my results were sent along with those of other candidates who took the exam at the University of Foreign Languages? (According to the information on the University of Foreign Languages' website, the score reports were sent out on August 12th.)
Congratulations! Your admission letter has been sent by the University of Foreign Languages to the address you registered in your application. If everything goes smoothly, the post office should deliver it to you around the last week of August 2011. If you need any assistance, please contact the Training Department of the University of Foreign Languages.
hue @ 08:58, 16/08/2011: My younger sibling scored 15 points on the university entrance exam (Group C) and didn't get a mark. Can my sibling use their university entrance exam results as their second choice for a college?
According to current admission regulations, candidates can use their university entrance exam results to apply for admission to college-level programs.
Le Phuong Nam @ 09:28, August 16, 2011: I took the C-block entrance exam for the Academy of Journalism and Communication and scored 20.5 points. So I would like to ask if the University of Humanities allows second-choice applications to the Journalism department of your university? Thank you!
The Journalism program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities does not accept second-choice applications. If you want to pursue a career in journalism, you can consider majoring in Literature or Linguistics, as these programs have produced many successful graduates in journalism, media, and publishing. With your current score, your chances of being accepted into Literature or Linguistics are very high.
sung @ 10:52, August 16, 2011: My nephew scored 18 points (including regional bonus points) in the D-block exam. If he registers for his second choice, the Faculty of Literature Education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi), is there a chance he will be admitted? I would appreciate your advice and thank you sincerely.
With 18 points in Block D, the candidate's chances of admission are relatively high. In recent years, most candidates who took the Block D exam and applied for their second choice of university have been admitted.
Truong Van Hai @ 11:56, August 16, 2011: Teachers, please help me with this. I passed the entrance exam for Psychology in Group A. According to the information on the University of Humanities' website, I need to contact the University of Natural Sciences to get my exam results and admission letter. I can't access the University of Natural Sciences' website. I don't know how to contact them. Could you please give me the phone number of the University of Natural Sciences' training department so I can contact them?
Congratulations on your admission to Psychology – a field of study with many interesting career prospects in modern society! Your admission letter has been sent by the University of Science. If you need any assistance, please contact the Training Department of the University of Science at the following phone number: 04.38585279
Nguyen Thi Hai Li @ 14:06, August 16, 2011: I would like to ask if the school updates the list of candidates who submitted their second choice applications every day, does that list include the exam scores of each candidate?
The daily updated list includes the exam scores of each candidate. This is very important information for candidates applying for their second choice of university, especially during the period from August 25th to September 8th, 2011.
Thuy @ 15:10, August 16, 2011: I scored 18 points (including regional bonus points) on the Hanoi University of Education entrance exam but failed because the cutoff score was 18.5. I want to register for my second choice at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Faculty of Literature Education. What are my chances of getting in? I would appreciate your advice (the cutoff score for the second choice in Literature Education is 17). Thank you very much.
With 18 points, you can confidently submit your application for admission, especially if you are in the humanities/social sciences group (Block D).
Tran Thi Hong Tham @ 15:18, August 16, 2011: I scored 20 points (including regional bonus points), but I initially chose anthropology. Now I want to switch to journalism. Is that possible?
Since the candidate was accepted into their first-choice major, they will study that major, so I can't transfer.
Truong Thi Hong @ 15:51, August 16, 2011: I would like to ask: when registering for my second choice in the Literature Teacher Training program, on form number 1, should I write the school code for the Faculty of Social Sciences and Humanities - Vietnam National University, Hanoi or the University of Education?
I wrote down the school code for the University of Education.
Lí @ 16:04, August 16, 2011: I registered to take the entrance exam for the Literature major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, and got 20 points, not including regional points. The Literature Education major at the same university still has vacancies for the second round of applications, so can I apply to transfer to this major?
Changing majors is not possible for candidates who are admitted to their first-choice program. However, if you major in Literature, you can still work as a teacher without necessarily having to major in Literature Education.
thuy dung @ 16:39, 16/08/2011: I took the Journalism entrance exam at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and got 17.5 (including bonus points). That's not enough to get into the Journalism program. I want to put Literature as my second choice (this program requires 17 points for the second choice). Will I be considered for this program, and what are my chances of getting accepted? Thank you!
You are eligible to apply for the second-choice admission to the Literature major. The Literature major still has many second-choice slots available. With a score of 17.5, you should regularly check the list of second-choice applications that the university updates daily from August 25th to September 15th, 2011, to make a suitable choice.
Thieu Hoa @ 16:55, August 16, 2011: I scored 19 points in the D1 exam (including priority points for Zone 1). I want to register for my second choice, the Philosophy department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Do I have a chance of being admitted?
With 19 points in Block D, I predict my chances of being admitted to Philosophy are quite high. There are still many vacancies in Philosophy. In recent years, most candidates who took the Block D exam and applied for their second choice have been admitted. Choosing Philosophy also gives you the opportunity to study in a high-quality program.
huu tan @ 18:10, 16/08/2011: I submitted my application at my current high school and wrote my address on the application form as "at home". I didn't get accepted into my first choice yesterday, so where will the school send my score report and second choice application form?
My exam results certificate was sent by the school to the high school where I study.
hao nam @ 18:42, 16/08/2011: Hello teachers! My first choice score is 18.5 (including regional bonus points), but it's not enough for the major I've chosen. Now I want to register for my second choice, the Vietnamese Studies major. So I would like to ask if my chances of being admitted are high with that score? Thank you, teachers!
The Vietnamese Studies major does not accept second-choice applications. Please pay close attention to the admissions information to avoid any misunderstandings that could jeopardize your opportunity to study. With a score of 18.5, you have a good chance to apply for a second-choice program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Carefully check which majors accept second-choice applications and register accordingly.
Nguyen Thi Van Anh @ 21:01, August 16, 2011: Dear teachers, In the recent university entrance exam, I scored enough points to be admitted to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. I got 20 points, plus regional bonus points, making it 21. However, I registered to take the exam for the Sociology major. Now I want to switch to the Literature major. Is this possible? And what are the requirements and procedures for changing majors? Please advise me. Thank you very much!
The school admits students by major, and once a student takes the entrance exam and is admitted to a particular major, they must study that major; they are not allowed to switch to another major.
La Thi Hue @ 22:03, August 16, 2011: Dear teacher, I would like to ask if my score, including bonus points, is 18 points, do I have a chance of being admitted to the history major at this university? Thank you.
Your question is unclear. If you have already applied to the History major at the university, then congratulations on your acceptance. However, if you intend to apply for History as your second choice, that's not possible because the History major does not accept second-choice applications.
Nguyen Trung Duc @ 22:04, 16/08/2011: This year I got 18 points including bonus points! I want to apply for the second choice to the Sociology department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Is the acceptance rate high? Thank you to the professors.
The Sociology major is a popular choice for many candidates applying as their second choice. However, with 18 points from the D-block exam, I believe your chances of admission are high. If you took the C-block exam, you should check the list of candidates applying as their second choice, which the university publishes daily, before making a decision.
Tran Thuy Nga @ 22:08, August 16, 2011: I scored 17 points on the university entrance exam this year, including regional priority points. I want to apply for the second choice, the Literature Education department at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. What are my chances of getting accepted?
The Literature Education major still has many second-choice application slots available. You have enough points to apply for the second-choice option. If you took the D-block exam, your chances of getting accepted will be high.
Nguyen Viet Tu @ 23:39, August 16, 2011: Hello teachers! Could you please tell me why the 2011 enrollment quota for the Philosophy major at the university is 70, but the university is accepting an additional 95 students through the second round of applications?
In 2011, the Ministry of Education and Training assigned responsibility to universities to independently determine the enrollment quotas for each major within the total allocated quota. The university initially announced a projected quota of 70, as you mentioned, and now, based on the results of the first-choice applications, the university is projecting a second-choice quota of 65 (re-announced on August 17, 2011, instead of the original announcement on August 9, 2011).
Nguyen Thi Yen @ 08:34, August 17, 2011: Dear teachers! I would like to register for my second choice, the Faculty of Literature Education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. Could you please tell me if the Faculty of Education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and the Faculty of Education at the University of Education are different or the same? And upon graduation, which university will my degree be awarded to? Thank you very much!
According to the regulations of Vietnam National University, Hanoi, students studying pedagogical majors at the University of Education will spend the first three years at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities or the University of Natural Sciences and then in their final year at the University of Education. The degree will be awarded by the University of Education.
Nguyen Thi Thanh Huyen @ 08:44, August 17, 2011: Dear teachers, I got 18 points (including regional bonus). I failed my first choice, Psychology. I want to apply for my second choice, Literature (17 points). What are the chances of getting accepted?
The Psychology major accepts students from three subject groups: A, C, and D. If you took the A group exam, you cannot apply to the Literature major because that major does not accept students from the A group. If you took the C or D group exam, please refer to the answers already provided in this counseling program.
Do Minh Thuy @ 09:05, August 17, 2011: Dear teachers! I scored 18 points (including regional bonus points), so I'm applying for my second choice, the Information-Library Science major. Is there a high chance I'll get in?
I think your chances of getting accepted are high. The Information and Library Science program still has many vacancies for second-choice applications.

Thai Thi Yen @ 13:58, August 17, 2011: Hello teachers. I got 17 points in block D (including regional points). So, am I still allowed to submit my application for my second choice to the school?
You are fully eligible to apply for your second choice of majors that accept students from Group D.
Nguyen Thi Thu Huyen @ 16:44, August 17, 2011: Dear teachers, I have a question: I took the A-group exam for the International Studies major and got 16.5 points (including regional bonus points). Compared to the admission cutoff score for the major, I am 0.5 points short. Will I be admitted?
The cutoff score for Group A, International Studies major is 16 points (including priority points), so it's obvious you've been admitted.
Hoang Ngoc Anh @ 20:53, August 17, 2011: I submitted my application for the entrance exam at the high school I attend. So where will the score report be sent?
Regarding where I submitted my application for the exam.
Dinh Quoc Vuong @ 01:03, August 18, 2011: Hello teachers! I would like to ask if I can fill in the information on form number 1 for the second round of applications to your school using a pencil? Because I'm worried that when I withdraw my application to submit it to another school, I can easily erase the information to fill in the information for the school I want to apply to without making a mess. Thank you and I wish you all good health.
The application form for second and third choice universities differs from previous years in that it has two boxes for filling in the second choice. When submitting it for the first time, use the first box. Later, if you withdraw it to apply elsewhere, use the second box. Please do not write with a pencil.
Dao Thi Mai @ 01:28, August 18, 2011: Hello teachers, I lost my grade report for grades 1 and 2. Can I get a replacement? If so, what is the procedure? And where can I get it?

Pham Thuy @ 10:37, August 18, 2011: I scored 18.5 on the entrance exam for the Academy of Journalism, including regional bonus points. Now I want to apply to the Sociology department of the University of Humanities. Is that possible? And how do I apply? Thank you, teachers!
You are eligible to register for your second choice in Sociology. You will receive a certificate of university entrance exam results issued by the Academy of Journalism and Communication. You can use that certificate to register for your second choice at your chosen university.
Bui Van Dong @ 14:41, August 18, 2011: Hello teachers. I want to ask about the D subject group, but I don't know which D group it is. I'm in group D2, will I be considered for the second choice at the school?
All D-levels have the same score, dear.
Khanh Linh @ 16:15, August 18, 2011: Dear teachers, I would like to ask: I was accepted into the Banking Academy as my first choice, but I don't like that major. Can I apply to your school as my second choice? Thank you very much! I hope to receive your reply soon.
No, my dear. If you want to study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, you'll just have to wait until next year to retake the entrance exam.
My @ 16:21, 18/08/2011: Dear teachers, I scored 17.5 points on the Hanoi University of Education entrance exam (Group D) and was not admitted. I want to apply for the second round of admissions to the Faculty of Literature Education at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. What are my chances of being admitted in the second round? If, after checking the updated information from the university regarding the second round of admissions, I see that my chances of admission are not high, can I withdraw my application to the Faculty of Literature? And I would like to ask if the University of Education accepts second round applications?
Admissions to the University of Education are handled by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for the History Education and Literature Education majors, while the remaining majors are handled by the University of Natural Sciences. If you registered Literature Education as your second choice but are unsure and there is still time, you have the right to switch your registration to Literature.
Linh @ 4:30 PM, August 18, 2011: I scored 18.5 in the C block exam (Region 3). I registered for my second choice at the university. I want to ask if the cutoff score for the second choice will increase? And will I get accepted into my second choice?
Lo Thi Huyen Trang @ 16:53, August 18, 2011: I got 16 points in the entrance exam for the Management Science program. Will I be admitted? And I am of Thai ethnicity and reside in Chau, how many extra points will I receive?
You belong to candidate category 01, but simply writing "Lai Chau" for your region won't be accurate. Please call 04.38585237 for specific advice.
Do Thi Dung @ 17:34, August 18, 2011: Hello teachers! My younger sibling scored 9 points on the university entrance exam for Group C. I would like to ask if your school accepts applications for second-choice college programs? If so, what is the admission score? Thank you!
The school doesn't offer associate degree programs.
Pham Thi Bich Phuong @ 08:58, August 19, 2011: I would like to ask what the latest date I will receive my admission letter is, since I have passed my first choice (Group C) at the university.
On August 16, 2011, the school sent admission notices to successful candidates. Hopefully, you won't have to wait any longer.
Lam Van Thanh @ 10:15, August 19, 2011: Dear teachers of the Faculty of Literature, I just took the Hanoi Law University entrance exam (Block C) and got 16.5 points + priority points = 19.5 points. With the university's cutoff score of 20, I failed. Now I want to apply to your university (Faculty of Literature) as my second choice, but I don't know what to study. I haven't decided on my direction yet. Therefore, I hope you can advise me on which major would suit me and what the job prospects would be after graduation. My older brother, Luu Van Phu, is also a student of your university and just graduated this year from the History department. I consulted him and he said the Political Science department would also be good. Could you please tell me about that department? I hope you can answer me as soon as possible so I can determine my direction. Thank you!
The Faculty of Political Science offers a Bachelor's degree in Political Science. You should check the detailed information about the Political Science program on this website. If you have any further questions, please contact the Faculty of Political Science office at 04.38588173. With 20 points, your chances of admission are quite high.
Phuong Anh @ 10:52, August 19, 2011: Hello teachers! I passed the entrance exam for Group A at your university, but I haven't received my admission letter yet. If I want to pick it up, do I have to go to the University of Science and Technology? And what are the application submission periods at your university? Thank you very much, teachers ^^
The admission notice to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities for candidates taking the A-block exam will be sent by the University of Natural Sciences to the address registered in the application form. If you need assistance and have not received the notice, please contact the Training Department of the University of Natural Sciences at 04.38585279. The enrollment date at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities is September 4th, 2011 (Sunday).
Thu Hien @ 11:12, August 19, 2011: Dear teachers! In the recent university entrance exam, I scored 20.5 points (including regional bonus points). I want to register for the Literature department as my second choice. So I would like to ask if I am eligible to get into the Literature department? Thank you very much!
With 20.5 points, I think you can confidently apply for your second choice, the Literature major. Good luck!
Le Thanh Huong @ 11:49, August 19, 2011: Dear teachers, in the recent university entrance exam, I took the C-block exam for the Academy of Journalism and Communication, majoring in International Relations. I scored 21.5 points, one point short of the cutoff score for the major. Therefore, I would like to register for my second choice at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, C-block majoring in Linguistics or Sociology. Do I have a chance of being admitted to the university? And can I submit my second-choice application directly to the university? Thank you, teachers!
You can submit your application directly at the School (Training Department – Room 604, Building E, 336 Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Hanoi). With 21.5 points, your chances of admission are very high. Good luck!
Thanh Nga @ 17:11, August 19, 2011: Dear teachers, I was a student at this university. Due to personal reasons, I requested to withdraw from the program. I wrote a withdrawal letter, but it was not accepted by the head of the department. However, I still left without withdrawing my records, and they are still at the university. This year I am retaking the entrance exam. If I pass, will I be allowed to enroll, and what procedures do I need to follow to continue my studies? I would appreciate your help. Thank you!
Please contact or call Mr. Dinh Viet Hai (phone: 04.35575892) in person to discuss the matter further, as he cannot give you an immediate answer based on the information you have provided.
Oanh @ 19:49, August 19, 2011: Dear teachers, I took the C-block exam for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities and scored 16.5 points. Adding regional bonus points gives me 17 points, which is just enough to get into the Literature department I applied for. However, I see that the Literature department in the C-block only has 50 places available for second choice students. Will I be admitted to the Literature department? I'm very confused because I don't know the details, and I still haven't received my admission letter. Please help me clarify this! Thank you very much!
Your question is unclear, so I'll just give you an example: if you applied to the Literature major and now have 17 points, you've already been accepted, and your admission letter, sent on August 16, 2011, should arrive soon. If you applied to a different major and now want to apply for Literature as your second choice, you're eligible to submit your application for consideration.
From anh @ 20:21, August 19, 2011: Dear teacher, I scored 18.5 points (including priority points). I would like to apply for the Philosophy department at your university as my second choice. Could you please advise me on my chances of being accepted? If I want to know the admission results, can I call the university to inquire?
With 18.5 points, you can apply for the second round of admissions to the Philosophy major. The results of the second round of admissions are expected to be announced on September 19th or 20th, 2011. You can check the results on the university's website at that time.
Van @ 20:38, 19/08/2011: I want to ask: When considering the second round of applications, the school only has 25 slots, but if the number of applicants with the same highest score exceeds the school's quota, how will the school make the selection?
This is a case that requires careful consideration before a decision can be made. If the number of candidates with the highest scores alone exceeds the quota for the second choice, the school will consider the total quota for the entire school to make a decision. If this highest score is indeed very high, priority may be given to admitting those candidates.
tuan @ 21:15, 19/08/2011: Dear Teachers! I would like to ask about my D1 exam score, which is 18.5 including priority points for area 3. I submitted my application for the second choice, Philosophy. What are my chances of getting in?
Yes, that's right. For many years now, most candidates applying for the second choice in Group D have been accepted because very few candidates who took the Group D exam register for their second choice. This phenomenon will probably be the same in 2011.
Do Duy Khanh @ 10:04, August 20, 2011: I would like to ask about my university/college entrance exam in 2011. I scored 21.5 points in Group C, and the admission area is 2, so my total score is 22 points. I would like to apply to the Sociology department of your school. Is it possible for me to be admitted? Thank you.
Your chances of being accepted are high. However, since Sociology is a popular major, you should regularly check the list of applicants published daily by the university to make an informed decision.
Phuong Triet @ 10:41, August 20, 2011: Dear teachers, I would like to ask a question about the second round of admissions for the university this year. I scored 17 points in the C block of the Tourism Faculty, including regional bonus points. I failed to get into the Tourism Faculty and want to apply for another faculty in the second round. The announcement on the university website states that they will select candidates from highest to lowest scores. So, if I have enough points to apply for another faculty in the second round, but the university selects candidates from highest to lowest scores until the quota is filled, will I still not be accepted? I hope you can clarify this for me so I can make the right choice. Thank you!
That's exactly right, as you asked. The admission scores are determined for each subject group and each major, ranked from highest to lowest.
