Competition "Startup based on intellectual property rights"

1. Purpose of the Contest

- Linking training with practical Intellectual Property (IP) activities within the framework of cooperation between the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the Intellectual Property Office;

- Raising students' awareness of intellectual property and creative startups;

- Encourage students' creativity and entrepreneurial spirit in linking intellectual property knowledge and entrepreneurship;

- Create conditions for connecting startup networks and developing a sustainable startup ecosystem in universities associated with intellectual property;

  • The competition is also an opportunity for startup groups to approach and learn from CEOs, investors, and startup experts; receive advice and successfully raise capital.

4. Participants

-University students have registered to participate with the Organizing Committee.

5. Time and venue

6. Exam content

6.1. Part 1: Greetings

- Each team prepares a performance introducing the team with content related to Intellectual Property and Startups.

- Time for each greeting is no more than 05 minutes.

- Scoring criteria: will be announced specifically to each team.

Maximum total score for the first part: 10 points

6.2. Second round: IP Brain Battle

- The organizers will ask 10 questions, each team has 30 seconds to discuss and give answers.

- Scoring: The team will receive 4 points for each correct answer.

Maximum total score for the second part: 40 points

6.3. Part 3: Startup

- Each team has 10 minutes to present their startup project based on their team's intellectual property (can combine presentation methods).

- After the presentation, the team will have a maximum of 02 questions from the Jury and 01 question from the Sponsor/Investor. The time to think and answer each question will not exceed 05 minutes/01 question. In addition, each other team also has the right to ask 01 question to the presenting team and 01 question from the audience (if any).

- Scoring criteria: will be announced specifically to each team.

Maximum score for the third part: 50 points

6.4. Audience Competition

- Questions on intellectual property and creative startups prepared by the Organizing Committee or questions posed by the sponsor.

- MC chooses audience to answer.

- For each correct answer, the audience will receive 01 gift from the Organizing Committee.

7. Prize structure and value

- 20 selected ideas: Certificate, support 200,000/idea

- 5 teams with 5 ideas were selected for the final round:

+ 01 First Prize:Cup, 10 million VND, Cup, 01 scholarship worth 1000 USD - Participate in FIIS's SIP 100 intensive incubation program, 01 Ejoy English scholarship and other gifts from sponsors

+ 01 Second Prize:Certificate, 3 million VND, 02 scholarships worth 50% of TOI course, 02 Ejoy English scholarships and other gifts from sponsors

+ 01 Third Prize:Certificate, 2 million VND, 02 scholarships worth 50% of TOI course, 02 Ejoy English scholarships and other gifts from sponsors

8. How to calculate the solution

- The total maximum score for all 3 games is100 points/team, ranked from high to low, including: 01 First Prize, 01 Second Prize and 01 Third Prize.

- The score sheet is determined by the Jury and the Organizing Committee.

- The results of the competitions and the final results will be announced by the Jury.

9. Youreference

-The Organizing Committee decides the Jury of the competition.

- The jury decides the scoring criteria for each part.

10. Secretariat

- The Organizing Committee decides on the Secretariat of the competition to ensure representation and transparency for the teams.
