In the context of globalization, digital transformation, and the rapid development of the creative economy, cultural and natural heritage is increasingly recognized as an important resource for sustainable development, possessing not only cultural and historical value but also significant socio-economic value.
However, in Vietnam, the field of heritage economics still faces many research gaps, including an incomplete theoretical framework, a lack of tools for valuing heritage, and models for governance and benefit distribution that harmonize conservation and development. This situation necessitates the need for in-depth academic forums to exchange ideas, discuss, and propose appropriate policy solutions.
The workshop focused on the following key areas:
- Theoretical basis and methodological approaches to heritage economics;
- The practical aspects of developing the heritage economy in Vietnam and international experiences;
- Models for managing, exploiting, and distributing value from heritage;
- Institutions, policies, and solutions for developing the heritage economy in the current context;
- The relationship between heritage preservation and sustainable economic development.
