Invitation to present: Kachin Life Stories – Telling Ethnographic Stories of Yourself in Digital Space

Speaker: Dr Stan Tan-Tangbau is the Hanoi Coordinator of the School of Communication and Design, RMIT University Vietnam. He is an expert on land change and ethnic relations in the Central Highlands of Vietnam. Since 2007, he has expanded his research to cover the entire highland region of Southeast Asia, especially the Yunnan region of China and the mountainous areas of northern Vietnam. In 2009, he founded the Kachin Life Stories project, an open space for Kachin people from Myanmar (as well as from India and China) to tell their own ethnographic stories. The project received the JSPS KAKENHI Young Researcher A Award 2012-2016. Before joining RMIT, he taught at Ritsumeikan University and the National University of Singapore.
