INTRODUCTION TO OPIc

The Opinion International Language Proficiency Test (OPIc), developed by the American Council on Foreign Language Teaching (ACTFL), has officially been launched in Vietnam. OPIc is a computer-based test administered online, featuring a broad scoring scale and providing reliable test results. The test was developed to meet the growing global demand for assessing foreign language speaking proficiency.

Key features of the exam

Before starting the exam, candidates complete a knowledge assessment and a self-assessment section. Based on their level and areas of interest, each candidate will be given a suitable set of questions.

• Background Knowledge Survey: This section provides questions about the candidate's work, studies, family, personal activities, and hobbies. Candidates complete the survey, and their answers will be used to determine the exam topics; the computer will then randomly select questions for each candidate. If two candidates choose the same answers in the background knowledge survey, their question packages will also be different.
• Self-Assessment: This section provides descriptions for each level of language proficiency. Candidates select the description they believe best reflects their language ability.
