II. Eligibility Requirements for Training
ButGraduated from high school or equivalent (recognized by Vietnam), meeting the admission requirements of Vietnam National University, Hanoi and the University of Social Sciences and Humanities;
- Possess sufficient Vietnamese language proficiency to meet the academic and research requirements of the training program being applied for, specifically meeting one of the following requirements:
+ Possess a Vietnamese language certificate equivalent to Level 4 or higher according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, issued by institutions authorized by the Ministry of Education and Training.
+ Holds a university degree in/majoring in Vietnamese language.
+ Possess a high school/vocational school/college/university/master's/doctoral degree where the language of instruction was Vietnamese.
- Students must be in good health to study and conduct research in Vietnam. Upon arrival in Vietnam, international students must undergo a health check at the Vietnam National University Hospital or at a medical facility designated by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. In cases of dangerous infectious diseases as defined by Vietnamese law or if they are not healthy enough to study, they must return to their home country.
- Age requirements for students under the Agreement are in accordance with international treaties to which Vietnam is a signatory. There are no age restrictions for students outside of the Agreement.
- Possess sufficient financial resources to cover tuition, research, internship, and living expenses in Vietnam for the corresponding period of study;
- A clean personal record, not currently serving a criminal sentence, and not having violated the laws of Vietnam or the host country; a commitment to entering the country for the sole purpose of studying.
III. Admission methods and timeline
3.1. Application method: International students should submit their applications electronically via email:study@ussh.edu.vnand send hard copies of the documents to the following address:Training Department – International Training Division, Room 207, Building E, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, 336 Nguyen Trai Street, Thanh Xuan District, Thanh Xuan Trung Ward, Hanoi, Vietnam.
3.2. Document requirements:
- Application form
- Certified copies and translations into English or Vietnamese of your high school diploma and transcript. For diplomas issued outside Vietnam, consular legalization is required.
- A notarized copy of a Vietnamese language certificate demonstrating a minimum proficiency level of 4 according to the Vietnamese Language Proficiency Framework for Foreigners, as recognized by the Ministry of Education and Training of Vietnam, orGraduated from university or equivalent qualification or higher, with the training program taught in Vietnamese..Refer to Appendix 1 –List of accredited Vietnamese language certification institutions for master's and doctoral admissions at Vietnam National University, Hanoi..
ButStudy plan
- A health certificate issued by an authorized medical facility in the sending country or by a provincial, city, or central-level medical facility in Vietnam certifying that the applicant is healthy enough to study, and issued no more than 6 months prior to the application date.
- Copies of documents proving sufficient financial resources to cover study, research, and living expenses in Vietnam.
- A copy of your passport valid for the entire duration of your studies in Vietnam or for at least one year from your expected arrival date in Vietnam.
- 4x6 photo
(Three sets of documents are required, including one original and two photocopies.)

IV. Other information:
4.1. Regarding specialization orientation:
a) Oriental Studies:The Oriental Studies program comprises three specializations: Indian Studies, Thai Studies, and Chinese Studies. After the first semester, the Department of Oriental Studies will assign first-year Oriental Studies students to specializations based on their preferences and academic performance in the first semester. Priority will be given to students with HSK and HSKK Level 3 or higher language proficiency certificates for Chinese Studies, Thai language proficiency certificates for Thai Studies, and international English language certificates for Indian Studies.
b) Other fields/training programs:Students are assigned to specializations in their fourth year (students choose their specialization based on their individual professional needs and the training institution's guidelines):
