(CPV) - According to information from the Central Council for the Protection of Cadre Health, General Secretary Nguyen Phu Trong, after a period of illness, despite being diligently treated by the Party, the State, a team of professors and doctors, and receiving devoted care from his family, passed away at 1:38 PM on July 19, 2024, at the Central Military Hospital 108 due to his advanced age and severe illness. He was 80 years old.

The Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam, the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the President of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the Government of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, and the Central Committee of the Vietnam Fatherland Front will issue a special communiqué regarding the organization of the state funeral for Comrade Nguyen Phu Trong.
