The 2012 conference of key staff of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities took place on June 9, 2012. At the conference, delegates listened to the summary report of the 2011-2012 school year, the direction and tasks for the 2012-2013 school year and discussed many important tasks in the coming school year: Building a team of qualified staff, quickly integrating into the region and the world; Building and developing industries and majors to international standards; Building high-quality scientific products, serving training and the country's development requirements; Innovating university governance towards building and implementing an advanced university governance system.In the 2011-2012 school year, the School basically completed the planned targets. Regarding training, the School completed well and on schedule the work of adjusting training programs according to output standards, building new training programs to meet social needs; continued to invest effectively in learning materials; actively innovated teaching methods; initially implemented university administration. Scientific research activities had good results thanks to diversifying funding sources, diversifying the system of topics and scientific activities. The School had 5 teachers awarded the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for outstanding research works; 4 teachers were proposed for the title of Excellent Teacher in 2012; 01 collective and 04 individuals were considered for the Third Class Labor Medal. In the 2012-2013 school year, the key tasks were identified: - Continue to improve the quality and effectiveness of undergraduate and postgraduate training; Effectively implement 3 component projects under NVCL; implement the project "Taking on the task of training lecturers with doctoral degrees in social sciences and humanities for colleges and universities" of the Ministry of Education and Training; complete output standards and adjust training programs in accordance with credit-based training. - Implement, propose and preside over the implementation of 01 state-level scientific program or 3-5 state-level scientific topics; build 3-5 strong research groups; focus on increasing the publication of research results in international scientific journals. - Build and develop a team of lecturers and managers to gradually meet standards. - Complete student management regulations in accordance with the credit-based training method, promote counseling and support for students in their studies and career guidance. - Strengthen the evaluation of training programs, evaluate the Linguistics program according to AUN standards. - Innovate university governance, promulgate and apply management processes according to ISO standards in management and operation activities.

Speaking at the Conference, Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son - Vice President of VNU assessed: The University of Social Sciences and Humanities achieved many encouraging results in the past school year. The number of candidates registering for the entrance exam to the University increased by 28%, of which the number of candidates applying for the A block increased by 3 times, proving that the Social Sciences and Humanities majors still attract great attention from society. The University has systematically and timely transformed its undergraduate and postgraduate training programs, and has taken important and bold steps in innovating methods such as: building a subject website, piloting the selection of lecturers, organizing classes to improve the capacity of staff, etc. The University's leadership team is basically stable, has inheritance, and aims for sustainable development. The University is also a pioneer in rejuvenating its staff and paying special attention to young staff. The construction and development of 4 key action programs in the 2012-2013 school year has shown that the University is not satisfied with what it has achieved but is determined and constantly making efforts to find directions and solutions for development in the new situation. Associate Professor, Dr. Nguyen Kim Son commented: “The position of the University and of the Social Sciences and Humanities departments in the structure of VNU is increasingly enhanced. With research projects exploiting interdisciplinary nature, VNU always pays attention to exploiting Social Sciences and Humanities as a strength and pride of VNU”.
