The Admissions Counseling Board of the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (Vietnam National University, Hanoi) will answer questions from June 9th to 20th, 2012.
1. When did the school send out the exam notification? Will my exam notification be sent to my home or where can I pick it up?The universities assigned to organize the exams of Hanoi National University, including the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, have sent exam notification letters to the Departments of Education and Training since the beginning of June 2012. Therefore, candidates need to contact the place where they submitted their application to receive their exam notification letters. For candidates who registered for the C-block exams directly at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities (code 99), the University will send the exam notification letters to the address written on the envelope submitted with the application.2. Why did I take the D1 exam for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities but received an exam notification from the University of Foreign Languages?Because the Vietnam National University, Hanoi (VNU) organizes exams according to subject groups (the University of Natural Sciences organizes exams for groups A, A1, and B; the University of Social Sciences and Humanities organizes exams for group C; and the University of Foreign Languages organizes exams for groups D1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6), all candidates taking exams in groups A, A1, and B for member universities and faculties of VNU will receive an exam notification from the University of Natural Sciences. Similarly, candidates in group C will receive an exam notification from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, while candidates in groups D1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6 will receive an exam notification from the University of Foreign Languages.NoteFor candidates taking the A, B, and D subject groups for the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, when receiving their exam notification at the registration location, please clearly state which subject group you are taking and which university will send the notification to avoid misunderstandings by admissions officers who might only search among the exam notifications sent by the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, resulting in not finding your notification.3. I still haven't received my notification letter even though I've asked at the registration office many times. What should I do?For candidates taking the A, A1, and B subject groups: Candidates should contact the Admissions Council of the University of Science directly for exam information. Contact number: 043.8585279. For candidates taking the C subject group: Candidates can view exam information on the University's website at: http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/xem-thong-tin-du-thi-dai-hoc-nam-2012/5980 or call: 04.38585237 (contact Mr. Nguyen Van Hong). For candidates taking the D1, D2, D3, D4, D5, and D6 subject groups: Candidates should contact the Admissions Council of the University of Foreign Languages directly for exam information. Contact numbers: 04-22411728; 04-22411405; 04-37548137.
Nguyen Hua Thanh Le @ 21:42, June 10, 2012: I am currently living in Ho Chi Minh City and studying a French-language bilingual program. I want to study Clinical Psychology (D3 group). How do I register for the exam? If I want to take the exam, do I have to take it in Ho Chi Minh City or in Hanoi? Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentThe Psychology program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities accepts applications from all four exam blocks: A, B, C, D1, 2, 3, 4, 5, and 6. Therefore, by the time of submitting your application for the 2013 university entrance exam, you can absolutely apply to the Psychology program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities. After students are admitted and enrolled, the University will conduct a selection process for students to study Clinical Psychology. According to the current admission regulations, if you apply to the University of Social Sciences and Humanities – Vietnam National University, Hanoi, you will have to travel to Hanoi to take the exam.Giang @ 00:38, June 11, 2012: I am currently a student at a university in Hanoi. I would like to ask if it's possible to register for an additional major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities or any other university within the National University system (i.e., studying at two universities simultaneously). If so, could you please provide more specific information about the requirements and procedures? MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training DepartmentIf you are a student at University A and want to pursue an additional major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, there are two possibilities: - First: You must take the university entrance exam for the major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities that you wish to study. However, a prerequisite for taking the exam is that you must have written consent from the Rector of your current university. - Second: You can register for a double degree if you meet the conditions stipulated in Article 32 of the Regulations on Undergraduate Training at Vietnam National University, Hanoi (see regulations here: http://dt.ussh.edu.vn/dai-hoc-quoc-gia-ha-noi/quy-che-dao-tao-dai-hoc-o-dhqghn-ban-hanh-ngay-26/10/2010) and the major you wish to study offers double degree programs.Quynh @ 7:30 PM, June 12, 2012: Dear teachers, where can I find the most accurate structure of the university entrance exam for Group C? This year, the curriculum for History and Geography has been reduced, so do I still need to study the sections that are listed as supplementary reading and not taught? Thank you, teachers! Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentAccording to the admissions regulations, the university entrance exam will not include questions from the supplementary reading section.Bao Tram @ 18:52, June 15, 2012: I'm currently preparing for 12th grade but haven't decided on a career path yet. I really enjoy studying literature and have a knack for it. I want to apply to the D1 group but haven't decided on a major yet. I'm considering majoring in literature, but I see that this major covers too many fields. Will this put me at a disadvantage compared to university graduates specializing in that field? Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentJob prospects after graduation depend on many factors, my dear. One of the key aspects is that a major's curriculum encompasses many other fields; it's not necessarily a disadvantage, but rather an advantage for students in that field. Every major at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has both general subjects and specialized subjects specific to that major. If you're interested in Literature, you can find more information about this major at the following address:http://ussh.vnu.edu.vn/nganh-van-hoc/1681 Quynh @ 19:56, June 15, 2012: I'm also wondering about this: For majors that accept both Group C and Group D candidates, what percentage of the applicants are from Group C and what percentage from Group D? Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentThe cutoff score for each subject group within a major is determined based on the candidates' exam results. Therefore, it's impossible to know in advance the percentage allocated to each group.Doan Minh Huong @ 12:46, June 16, 2012: I would like to ask if the tourism major offers a separate specialization in hotel management? If I register for the Hotel and Travel Management major with a specialization in hotel management, will I be studying that specific specialization? Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentThe Tourism and Travel Service Management program at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has two specializations: travel and hotel management. However, specialization assignments are only made after the third year and are based on students' preferences and academic performance, so I couldn't register for one during the entrance exam.Bao Vi @ 08:51, June 17, 2012: Dear teachers, my academic performance is only average. I really like the psychology department at our school, but I don't have enough confidence to take the entrance exam because the score is quite high. I would like to ask: If I register for the exam (I will be in 12th grade next year) and don't get enough points to pass, can I apply to another department within the school, or can I only apply to other schools? Thank you very much. MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training DepartmentIf next year you are not admitted to the major you applied for, and there is another major (or department) in the university that still has additional admission slots and you meet the additional admission requirements, then you can apply for supplementary admission to that major. An Vi @ 09:21, June 19, 2012: Dear Professor/Lecturer, I would like to ask about the tuition fees for the 2+2 International Joint Bachelor's Program with Guangxi University (China). In the admissions information sheet I downloaded, it states: “The first two years of study at the University of Social Sciences and Humanities, VNU Hanoi: Tuition fee: 2,100,000 VND/month”, meaning the monthly tuition fee is 21 million VND? Is there any mistake? Because I see that this tuition fee is even higher than the tuition fee at Guangxi University. I would greatly appreciate it if the advisory board could clarify this for me, as I am very interested in this program! Thank you very much! Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentThe tuition fee for this training program is 2,100,000 VND/month (Two million one hundred thousand Vietnamese Dong/month).loc @ 11:58, June 19, 2012: I'm currently studying journalism at the university, but I see that journalism is very closely related to law, so this year I'm taking the entrance exam for law at the National University. If I pass, will I be able to pursue a double degree? And will I be exempt from taking the common subjects? Does the university facilitate students studying at two universities? Thank you. MSc. Dinh Viet Hai, Training DepartmentIf you intend to apply to the Law program at the Faculty of Law, Vietnam National University, Hanoi, you must obtain written permission from the Rector. Once you are granted permission and admitted, you will study, but not pursue a double degree. However, according to the university's regulations, any courses that are the same between your current program and the Law program will be retained, and you will not need to take them again.hoa @ 17:52, June 19, 2012: Hello teachers. I have a question for you: "I see that each major in our school recruits students from many different subject groups. So I would like to ask if, in addition to the quota for each major, there is also a quota for each subject group? Specifically, I want to ask about the quota for Group A in the Management Science major." Thank you teachers. Mr. Nguyen Van Hong, Training DepartmentThe cutoff score for each exam group within a major is determined based on the candidates' exam results. Therefore, there are no specific quotas for each exam group within a major. Please feel free to ask further questions.HERE.
