On the morning of November 20, 2011, the Department of History solemnly celebrated its 55th anniversary (1956 - 2011).Attending the ceremony were Professor Le Van Tung – former member of the Politburo, former Secretary of the Hanoi City Party Committee; Professor, Doctor, Meritorious Teacher Phung Huu Phu – Standing Vice Chairman of the Central Theoretical Council, former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Deputy Head of the Standing Committee of the Central Propaganda Department; and Comrade Hong Vinh – former member of the Central Committee of the Party, former Head of the Central Propaganda Department. Notably, the commemoration ceremony was also attended by representatives from central agencies, universities, research institutes, professors and scientists working at the Faculty, and generations of lecturers, students, and alumni of the History Faculty.

The Faculty of History is a prestigious center for high-quality historical research and training, renowned both domestically and internationally, with a rich tradition spanning over half a century of development. On the occasion of its 55th anniversary, the Faculty of History was honored to receive flowers and a congratulatory letter from the President of Vietnam. Associate Professor Dr. Vu Van Quan – Party Secretary and Vice Dean of the Faculty, read the President's congratulatory letter on behalf of the organizing committee. Associate Professor Dr. Nguyen Hai Ke – Dean of the Faculty of History – delivered a speech reviewing the history of the faculty's establishment and the achievements made over its 55-year history. Over the 55 years of its development (1956-2011), the Faculty of History has trained approximately 5,500 Bachelors, nearly 500 Master's degree holders, and 112 PhDs for the country. Most generations of students, trainees, and researchers of the Faculty have matured professionally, gained prestige in their fields, and many scientists have received national and international honors. Many alumni of the Faculty have become high-ranking leaders of the Party and State. Many units and individuals within the Faculty have been awarded prestigious State honors. On behalf of the University leadership, Professor Dr. Nguyen Van Khanh – Secretary of the Party Committee and Rector of the University – acknowledged, praised, and congratulated the achievements of the History Faculty after 55 years of development and growth. Professor Dinh Xuan Lam, on behalf of all generations of teachers, received flowers expressing the affection of the entire staff, lecturers, and students of the History Faculty. Professor Phan Huy Le, on behalf of the generations of lecturers of the Faculty, delivered a speech of sentiments on the anniversary day.
