The late Professor Dinh Xuan Lam and Professor Le Van Lan were awarded the State Prize for Science and Technology.

On December 31, 2021, President Nguyen Xuan Phuc signed Decision No. 2472/QD-CTN awarding the Ho Chi Minh Prize and Decision No. 2473/QD-CTN awarding the State Prize for Science and Technology, 6th round, 2021. The Council for awarding the Ho Chi Minh Prize and the State Prize for Science and Technology, 6th round (the Prize) selected 9 Ho Chi Minh Prizes and 15 State Prizes to be awarded. Among them, the work "The Anti-Colonialist Movement in Vietnam" by the late Professor Dr. Dinh Xuan Lam and the collection of works "Modern Vietnamese Poetry" by Professor Dr. Le Van Lan (pen name Ma Giang Lan) were awarded the State Prize in the field of social sciences and humanities.

The project “The anti-colonial movement in Vietnam"Professor Dinh Xuan Lam's book, published by the Education Publishing House in 2015, is 651 pages long and consists of 5 parts: (1) From Can Vuong to Duy Tan, (2) Ho Chi Minh with the Vietnamese Revolution, (3) The International Aspect of the Vietnamese National Liberation Movement, (4) Typical Historical Figures and (5) Some Issues of Documentation, Historiography and Principles of Evaluating Historical Figures. The work is a collection of 72 out of a total of approximately 560 research works during nearly six decades of writing (from 1957-2015) by Professor Dinh Xuan Lam. The contributions of these research works are extremely important in helping to orient and adjust some perceptions and evaluation viewpoints on issues and historical figures that are still causing much controversy in the field of Vietnamese history and social sciences and humanities.
Specifically, the work has made significant contributions to clarifying the context, content, characteristics, nature, and role of the struggle against French colonial aggression in the late 19th and early 20th centuries; it delves into surveying and reconstructing the life, career, and outstanding contributions of prominent figures in modern Vietnamese history; it has made outstanding contributions to the study of Ho Chi Minh and the relationship between the Vietnamese revolution and the world revolution; and it has contributed to adjusting, and even changing, the perceptions of Vietnamese historians on some sensitive issues that have caused intense debates for decades since 1954.
Professor Dinh Xuan Lam's research is not only influential in Vietnam, but it is also used as a reference material in research and teaching at many foreign universities. Many foreign researchers in France, the United States, Russia, Australia, and other countries have consulted and used the results of his work, "The Anti-Colonial Movement in Vietnam," to support their research and teaching on Vietnamese history.
Professor, People's Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam (1925-2017)
 
Professor, People's Teacher Dinh Xuan Lam (1925-2017), born in Huong Son, Ha Tinh province; recognized as a Professor in 1984; awarded the title of People's Teacher in 1988. Professor worked at the Department of History, Hanoi University from 1956 to 1990; held management positions: Head of the Department of Modern and Contemporary Vietnamese History, Faculty of History; Vice President of the Vietnam Historical Science Association. Professor's main research areas: The anti-colonial movement in Vietnam; Nguyen Ai Quoc - Ho Chi Minh and the Vietnamese revolution.

This collection of works, formed over 48 years, is the result of the author's continuous research and teaching, demonstrating a spirit of exploration and innovation in poetry research, and presenting a comprehensive and systematic view of poetry based on reliable sources. The in-depth research on modern Vietnamese poetry in this collection analyzes in detail and comprehensively the following issues: theory, conceptions of poetry, genre evolution, poetic forms, poetic shapes, poetic structures, and clarifies the aesthetic characteristics of poetry in general and modern Vietnamese poetry in particular. The collection offers a systematic view, a general assessment, and in-depth discussions on the process, characteristics, and typical phenomena of modern Vietnamese poetry, affirming the significance and superiority of semantic positivism combined with several modern methods such as Structuralism, Poetics, Geo-cultural studies, Cultural studies, Linguistics, etc., in the study of poetry in general and modern Vietnamese poetry in particular.
Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Le Van Lan
 
Professor, Doctor, People's Teacher Le Van Lan was born in 1941 in Thanh Hoa province. He graduated with a Bachelor's degree in Literature from the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University in 1965; received his PhD in Literature from the Faculty of Literature, Hanoi University in 1985; was recognized as a Professor in 2002; awarded the title of Excellent Teacher in 2002; and awarded the title of People's Teacher in 2010. Professor Lan worked at the Faculty of Literature from 1965 to 2006; and served as Head of the Department of Modern Vietnamese Literature (1986-2010). His main research areas include: 20th-century Vietnamese literature; and literary genres, focusing on poetry.
To date, the team of scientists from the University of Social Sciences and Humanities has been awarded 11 Ho Chi Minh Prizes and 14 State Prizes for science and technology.
